Hi,

I haven’t seen this specific MSI blocking update issue yet, but it’s usually caused by something actively locking installer processes in the background (like Windows Update, antivirus, or a stuck MSI service).

Have you checked Event Viewer or tried running the installer with admin rights after a clean reboot? That sometimes helps narrow down what’s interfering.

Please post a screenshot of whatever is happening here, the description is way too vague.

No way to even guess at an answer without more information.

What are you trying to update?

Which Sonos version, S1 or S2.

What is the error message?

There was a recent post here where update was being blocked and it turned out to be their Antivirus program blocking it. They didn’t say which one. Worth checking.

What is “msi” ?

The Microsoft Installer, otherwise known as windows installer / updater. .msi files are microsoft installer packages.

I thought “msi” was the router.

Are you attempting to update the Windows Desktop Controller?
