Experience with Refurbished items

Has anyone had any bad expereince with refurbished items long term? I am thinking about buying a refurbished one but kind of worried about spending a lot of money on something that is potentially problematic or may become one after warranty is done. I know Sonos say that they have been tested extensively but wanted to see if someone had any bad experience or has it been generally positive across.

You can’t possibly pre-empt. Every device is totally different, just like any new device. They are all prone to hiccups. Just buy what you need refurbished (as long as it’s from Sonos directly) and if it goes wrong - like a new one could - send it back under warranty. Even new products go wrong outside warranty.

AIUI, anything returned under the 30-day home trial period also goes into Refurbished stock. So you often receive a nearly-new product, still with a warranty.

I had a faulty Playbase replaced (long after it was out of manufacture) more than 4 years ago and it’s still going strong. In light of its age I assume this was/is a Refurb item.
