I have two play 1 speakers and I want to be able to stream YouTube to them by adding a speaker with airplay 2. What would be the most cost effective option? Thanks

The Sonos One was the first Sonos speaker to be AirPlay capable, so maybe you could buy a used one of eBay. The Sonos Era 100 SL is the least expensive option when using a new speaker.

How exactly do you want to use AirPlay for YouTube? Is this about YouTube Music?

Buy an AirPlay compatible speaker (a used ikea symfonisk for example) and group it with your play 1.

The list of Sonos AirPlay compatible speakers is near the bottom if the link.

I want to stream audiobooks and content, not YouTube music.

Just asking. You could ad YTM as a music service - no need for AirPlay. This indeed does not work with plain YouTube - though I did not know YouTube does audiobooks.
