Use of TP-Link with Sonos

If using TP-Link to provide an adequate wifi signal in the room where Sonos speakers are situated, should it be set to the same wireless channel as the router or a different channel (SSID and password are the same)? If a different channel, will the speakers automatically pick up the TP-Link in preference to the router as the stronger of the two signals on this wireless network?

If it works, then I wouldn't worry. If there's issues then you may want to consider wiring one of your Sonos speakers to the router to create a SonosNet. If you can't wire your devices to the router, then you would need to find a way to minimise your traffic on the same channels. Of course, there may be other wifi devices that are fighting for the bandwidth on 24Ghz.

If you are having issues and are using a TP-link powerline wifi access point then you could try connecting one of your speakers to that with an ethernet cable; this would then mean you are using SonoNet. This is not a supported configuration by Sonos but it works in many cases. My system runs with its root bridge device connect to a Powerline unit.
