Stereo pair: Play:1 and One SL?

I currently have two black Play:1s set up as a stereo pair. I have one white Play:1 and wish to buy another white ‘One’  to replace the black stereo pair (will suit newly decorated room better). 

Will a new Sonos One or One SL work with my old white Play:1 (as a stereo pair) or will I have to buy a second hand Play:1?

You cannot pair a Play:1 with a One or One SL.
