If SONOS does not listen to its customers wanting HDMI and ARC support, together with more CODEC's then it will be a Dinosaur ! So it had better act quick or it will certainly loose the 2018 Christmas market rush as people buy new TV's all recommending to use HDMI output with superior CODEC'S for best SOUND - SONOS WAKE UP Please .......

Well that escalated quickly!

As for the OP question. I think it very unlikely, it seems the issue is related to the memory available in the older hardware to cater for the Airplay 2 facility.

On the question of HDMI for the Bar and Base, as jgatie says Sonos is always very tight lipped on these things and the Beam was a complete surprise to us
Yep. Everyone thought it was going to be Playbar 2 with DTS and HDMI......

I imagine we will see in 2019 a gen2 Playbar and Playbase with HDMI (probably next fall). Current version has no ability for HDMI or processing power for Airplay.

Wow - yea acleff went off the deep end.
