Second Roam added to solo Roam but will not stay linked in stereo

I set up my second Roam to the first one and used the PAIR feature in settings. All goes well. Music plays in stereo, etc. But when I come back later to play music the two Roams have ‘separated’ on their own and assigned themselves new names.

One is named the original Roam’s name (which was the name of the room it was in) and the new Roam just takes on a generic name like ala ‘Sonos Roam’.

I relink them, they play. And then in awhile they disconnect on their own.

Customer support says I’ve got to go into some crazy-a55 process with my Comcast router, and settings and what not -- but I have a feeling there is a simpler solution. Yes? \

Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

As you mention you prefer not to mess with your device settings etc; then perhaps a much simpler solution for you might be to ‘group’ the Roams instead of pairing them. See this support link:

I use grouping a lot with Roams here and they sound pretty good to me in that type of setup.

Hi Ken

Thank you. When ‘grouped’ are they playing in stereo?

Hi Ken

Thank you. When ‘grouped’ are they playing in stereo?

Each one plays both L & R channels for mono output - I quite like it, as I don’t always need the channel separation with portable devices as they each may often get moved about in our garden and home anyway and it means that wherever people (friends/family) sit in proximity to either grouped playing speaker, they still get to hear both channels equally and all the playing audio.

Stereo separation is often only truly great when sat at the ‘sweet spot’, equidistant between the two devices out in front of your listening position, or at a push, to each side of the listener. So for me ‘grouping’ is often quite beneficial in many situations when we want the two Roams streaming the same audio in a slightly larger space.
