play 3 is unresponsive

other sonos components/network working (play 5, connect/stereo). Play 3 will not connect either wired or wireless. have reset/cycled entire system (modem, router, etc) when I plug 3 in (power on), the light goes solid white immediately - where the others flash for a few moments as they search for the network. when I press the mute button on the 3, the light stays solid white. pressing mute and volume up (as if to add to system) does nothing - light stays solid white. play 3 has done this before but eventually started working again (randomly).
