So I've had a play for for about 15 months now for rear speakers. one of them is now extremely hot and making crackling sounds, the other does not and is not hot at all.
Anyone else having this problem? It was enough that I was worried about it catching fire since I could barley touch the backside.

Sounds not good. I'd recommend that you call in to Sonos to discuss. And unplug it for right now, if it's that hot, leaving it on overnight might not be smart. You can find numbers and hours behind the link at the bottom of this page that says "Contact Us".
