Question

Play 1 - alternates between different ones

We had a play 1 which we thought was great for upstairs and decided to purchase an additional one for downstairs. We managed to get it to connect however everytime we open the app it alternates between one or the other and we cannot connect to both at the same time.

We have tried reconfiguring them using ethernet. We also wonder if part of the issue is that we have a 2.4 and 5G networks in the house, the sonos uses the 2.4G network however the controller needs the 5G to connect.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like you've set them up as two different homes, rather than adding the second one to the current home.

As long as your router hands off the 5Ghz data over to the 2.4Ghz side of it's wifi, that wouldn't be an issue, especially since you can see one or the other. I'd go ahead and factory reset that second Play:1, and then add it back in to the current home. Use the instructions here:

As Bruce identified. ... 'as long as your router hands off the 5Ghz data over to the 2.4Ghz side of it's wifi, that wouldn't be an issue, especially since you can see one or the other.'

You should know.... Many routers will not do this.

So if you are seeing a system , with a controller connected via 5Ghz, and have no Sonos devices plugged into a router.. you are on the good side of this tech challenge.

Then it does look like you set up two systems instead of adding the second Play 1 to the existing Sonos system. And If a second opinion helps... I'd agree with Bruce (airgetlam)

Post back if this doesn't solve your problem. ... (Or you could be the oddity and post back even if it does 😃 )
