New to Sonos - Playing TV

I purchased a Playbar and a connect amp so I could listen to tv on my outdoor speakers. I understand that grouping the two will allow me to do that. Do you have to actually play the sound through the Playbar? Is there a way to mute it or something and still play through the outdoor speakers?

I may be outside and want to listen to a baseball game playing on tv. There's someone in the house that doesn't want to hear the tv...or may want to control the volume through the tv instead of Sonos.

Also, does the volume control on the tv affect the volume level on the Sonos speakers?

I'm sure pretty basic questions but am new to this.

Set the Playbar to play TV
Group it with your outdoor speakers
Mute the playbar
Set the outdoor speaker volume separately
The TV volume control is irrelevant (as you should set the TV to external audio only), but the TV remote will control the playbar volume if you set it up.
hth.
