New Sonos speaker set-up will not connect. What else can I try?

Trying to set up a new Sonos 5 using Apple Mac laptop and BT Home Hub router 3.
Sonos does not connect. Will not recognise the router Password. Everything else works
on WiFi, but not Sonos, even when placed right next to the router. The router is not 5Hz, so should be okay.
Sonos will also not connect using ethernet cable. Have checked the Firewall on the laptop
and Sonos is enabled. Have tried switching router on and off. No good. What else
can I try? Cannot get through to Sonos on customer service telephone lines either in Britain or Germany.
