Music mode with playbar and surround settings

When using my Sonos playbar+play 1+play 1 as a surround mode, it's wonderful, and no lag at all in the sound and playback. I would love to have (hard or easy) access to change settings of my Play:1 (3/5) to give full volume when watching music videos or concerts at my TV, either trough Chromecast or on TV/cable/sat - in TV mode in sonos app. I haven't found an easy way to do this, but disconnecting my two Play:1's as sperate players, bonded as a group.

Play 5 stops playing from Line-in

My Sonos Play 5 is connected to my TV with the AUX-cable. It autostarts playing when im turning on my TV - which is great! The problem is that when the TV is turned on, Sonos suddenly will automatically stop playing the sound from the TV, so i have to take my iPhone and start "playing" again. How can this be fixed? It is VERY annoying!

Please read before buying Sonos products for home theater use!

Please be aware that the Sonos products, wonderfull sound as they have, only can be used as a stereo device when watching movies. In some rare instances a true and very compliant Dolby Digital 5.1 audio source will be played fine. Very often there will be frequent audio drop-outs. DTS movies will not work. DD+ will give audio drop-outs even though the bit rate is low enough for the optical interface. Xbox 360 slim DD5.1 seem to work for some reason. At least through a state of the art hex-core android TV.

Unable to add music from Spotify to queue

Spotify no longer working. Getting error 'unable to tracks to the queue'. Even local files stored on my iphone, nothing works. Cleared queue.Tried deleting account from Macbook and re-adding. please help. system useless without this ability. Thanks

Stereo Play 5s vs Play 1 pair with sub

Moving to another apartment and selling my old stereo equipment I now have spare 2 x play 1 and 1 x play 5 on hands that were before used for different rooms. Due to convenience factor I would like to move one of these to my main listening area but i still question which way to go. Either i add another Play 5 or purchase a Sub to go with Play 1s. Having small kids my listening volume is normally quite low. Reading this forum some suggest that the sound from play 5s would give me fuller sound but bass from the Sub would be much better, while others seem to think play 1s do sound better on their own when Sub comes into the picture. I understand the decision would always be subjective but would still like to hear some advice. Thanks Tomaz

How can I switch to full TV surround?

Hello :) . I have a playbar and have just added 2 x PLAY:1 surrounds (left and right) via Bridge. By default the music playback for the PLAY:1 speakers was ambient, I've been able to change this to "full" through my iPad. No problems here. Now I'm looking to do the same for TV, although Im not seeing a similar setting. Is this possible? Thanks :)

What is "Sonos Extender" as a Room setting?

I already had two speakers a Play 1 and a Play 2... I just added a Playbar to the mix and I mistakenly during setup tried to set my Play 1 as a surround speaker, but the play 1 was already set to be "Family Room". I mistakenly went ahead with that and it nixxed the Room setting called "Family Room", and now it will only add it as an "Sonos Extender", what ever that means? I want to add the Play 1 as a seperate room again, and not as "Sonos Extender"! What do I have to do to remedy this mess?

Configuring a Sonos system in a corporate / work / office network

Has anyone had success using a Sonos system with multiple components in a large, corporate-type network? I work in an office of about 100 people with a wired & wifi network throughout the building. I do consultations in 3 different rooms during the day and would like to have a Play:1 unit in each room to stream music or radio while clients are waiting for me. Ideally I would like to do this in Party Mode, so that each Play:1 unit is playing the same content in a different room, then when I come to the room I can "pause" that Play:1, and "unpause" when I leave so it resumes playing. For my setup I would like to wire a Boost to an ethernet port, and have the Play:1 systems stream wirelessly through the hard-wired Boost (they are close enough that the wireless will be strong). My question is: how should the corporate network be configured to allow the Sonos system to stream Spotify, Pandora, etc? The network is highly restricted to prevent everyone watching YouTube, stre

Video Audio Playback in App for Play 1

Would it be so hard to all for video playback within the Sonos controller app? I mean I love the play 1 speaker and I like to listen to music but I think a lot of functionality is lost with it just being for music. Or some way to integrate whatever is played on computer, tablet or phone to stream to the play 1. I mean I can't I am completely understand the technology but I think it should be priority. Maybe I don't understand how I could stream games online and watch Full HD movies online and streaming my audio from video seems to be a stumbling block.

Fitness Sound System

I am looking at the play 5 system as a basis for a Fitness Sound System for a Fitness Studio of about 1800 square feet. My question is if can the system both play music and also allow the instructor to speak through a wireless microphone system at the same time with the music still playing or is that even possible. Detect closest zone

If one uses his phone as remote control for sonos, it would be very nice if the app detects which zone is closest. One can make a button to switch to this zone, or switch to it, when one starts the app. Because sonos can now use wifi, isn't it possible to do so?

POE version of the Play 1 (Power over Ethernet)

Power over Ethernet is great for lower powered equipment installed in remote locations. Perfect for IP cameras, WiFi hotspots, etc but I got to thinking, [b]couldn't a Play 1 POE be made[/b]? The current standard "802.11at" POE+ currently supports 25.5W of power which I believe is enough to power a Play 1 even at full volume? Whilst a POE version wouldn't appeal to everyone, the same body could be used but in removing the AC/DC converter it could be made lighter and potentially cheaper? I have ethernet running all around my home and could make great use of POE Play 1, there are a few places I'd love to put some Play 1 but it would mean running ugly power leads or paying a high premium for an electrician to run hidden power cabling to new ugly sockets. The benefit of CAT 5  is that pretty much anybody can buy and install it and since POE is low voltage most countries don't require a qualified electrician to install. Hello, I just got my first Sonos, play 5, really enjoying it. I didn't buy the bridge and have it connected in wireless mode to my AP. I had to change the configuration to support b/g. Is there a plan to support 802.11n/ac? In order to support n or ac, I am wondering if it will be a different hardware or another firmware/software update? TIA

Why won't Sonos allow wireless audio streaming for movies from Mac/PC?

This has been a long requested feature for years. Why limit the listening experience to music only? I love the sound when pairing two Play Ones. I wanted to keep them, but the fact I couldn't also stream the sound of my movies from my MacBook was a deal breaker. Why would I want to invest hundreds or thousands on a system that's limited to music only. I have a MacBook Pro, and I watch plenty of movies. Why should I have to buy additional speakers from another company just to enjoy movies? No one should have to resort to buying a play5 only to plug it into an airport express through the auxport. No one wants any more wires sticking out of their speakers. Using the auxport defeats the purpose of a wireless solution. Why won't Sonos allow software driver based audio output through their PC/Mac controllers that will allow any app to stream audio. For example, I want to run VLC player or Divx movie player and have the audio stream through the Sonos system. Can we get an ex

Still looking for an in-wall keypad solution?

I've owned Sonos products for almost a year now and they are great. However, I still find myself wanting an in-wall keypad mounted solution like what I used to have. If we're having dinner, I don't have a smartphone or tablet nearby. It was easier with the old sytem of going to over to the wall, pressing a few buttons to get music in a room. Does Sonos have any plans or are there any 3rd party solutions for this?

Hi there, I've just bought a third play 1 to add to the two I currently have connected to my Bridge.  For some reason the new component is not connecting to the system when I press the play and vol up buttons as requested.  I'm confused as the other two play1s are working fine.  I have tried connecting using both my Android phone and my Mac, and the result is the same. The new component is definitely within range of the Bridge/router. Any ideas? Connecting two pair of speakers to one connect:amp

I have read on other forums that connecting two pair of speakers to one Connect:Amp is ok as long as they are 8-Ohm. Does this apply to exterior speakers as well? I am looking at the Klipsch AW-650 and wanted to make sure this setup would work.

Ants in my Sonos PLAY:1

I know it sounds utterly ridiculous, but there are ants living in my Sonos PLAY:1. As there's no easy way of opening it up, I can't try to kill them all, but they are constantly crawling out, and also seem to leave behind little black flecks of something. I assume they're eating something in the speaker (maybe the rubber?). Not sure if anyone else has had this problem but would love to hear from you if you have and have any advice, as I'm worried that the sound quality will start deteriorating as they eat away at the speaker. I've not had much luck with turning it off at the mains and leaving the speaker to cool down. They're still in there. FWIW I'm in London, UK, and it's getting into winter here - so it's not as though seeing lots of ants in any situation is a common occurrence, which makes this even more bizarre.
