I have 2 play 5's and a sub grouped together. I have a bridge connected via ethernet to the router. The speakers run off the Sonos network. Often the sound drops off and in the Sonos app they have disappeared. I have checked everything is up to date and done full resets of the system. Nothing has worked. They randomly come back and work then drop out again. Please can you help check if this is wireless interference.
I have a Sonos 3:1 setup (SUB+PLAYBAR) in my living room for watching TV. I want to expand that system to include surround... AND.... I also want to expand the system in the living room so that when I'm not watching TV, but listening to music, the sound in the living room will be big and full.... So...on the surface it seems like a single play-5 in the living room would make the living room rock...not caring about stereo. However, the Play-5 won't satisfy the surround add-on to the TV. So then I think two Play-1's or two Play-3's. Obviously the 3's are going to sound better, but it might be overkill, considering I already have the SUB and the PLAYBAR in the same room. What are your thoughts? Anyone think adding a couple of PLAY-1's to my existing SUB and PLAYBAR will come close to the sound of a single PLAY-5 in the same room for music, while giving me surround for TV? Any other suggestions about what you might want to do so the living room sounds awesome for music li
I have a router (Airport TimeCapsule (gen4)) connected downstairs to Sonos Connect to stereo and that works fine. Upstairs I have an extended network with a AirPort Extreme (4 gen). Upstairs I have great connection, but my Sonos play for some reason chooses to connect to the router downstairs that's hard wired to my broadband. I tried to connect one play 1 to my upstairs router and did a change wifi procedure described on Sonos support. When I pull Ethernet cable play 1 still choose downstairs router. This means I keep getting dropped connection on my speakers every now and then. Anyone that could help out so I can get them to choose upstairs router instead? :) I can see what is connected on AirPort utility on my phone.
Here's an interesting podcast on Scientific American: https://www.scientificamerican.com/podcast/episode/human-ears-can-hear-better-than-cd-quality-just-barely/ Can better than CD quality music be streamed? What would be needed to make that happen with our current technology/equipment now? Mastering How should the music be mastered? SACD?, 24bit/96KHz (or higher) WAV?, other options? Possible equipment setup If I want to use headphones in this scenario I would imagine using a DAC like a Chord Mojo and a decent pair of earphones/headphones (Shure SE846) Sonos equipment setup I have a pair of Play:5 set up in stereo and I stream FLAC from Deezer Elite - sounds pretty much like a CD to me. Interestingly, according to this, Sonos supports audio files up to 16 bit and 44.1 kHz: https://sonos.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/80/kw/16bit/related/1 Just curious: Sonos, is that a software or hardware limit (or both)?
I understand that the Sonos 5 Gen 2 can be hard-connected to external devices including a PC. I would like to do this occasionally for non-music audio. The Sonos has a 3.5mm Line-In port at the back. How do you connect the other end to the PC? For example, at the back of my PC I have six soundcard 3.5 mm port of different colours (black, yellow, green, orange, etc Much appreciated Alex
We just installed 3 zones in our office on our the guest network of our enterprise level cisco wireless system. The zones are dropping the music and loosing the que every 30 minutes to an hour. The zones are also disappearing from the controller but at a lower frequency. Any help as to why this is happening is appreciated.
Hello everyone. I've been looking at the play 5's / 1's +sub or similar from Sonos for my home. After browsing these forums I just want to be sure that my understanding on these products and their functionality is clear. 1. I don't have a fiber connected house, still using copper wire but it is on schedule too get fiber optics in the next two years or so. If I keep one of the speakers, let's say a play 5 pair, connected to a router at all times I should be ok ? I have no problem with this since they are not to be moved around the house and one would actually be pretty close to the router. 2. We use macs, so if I connect an airport express to the other one I'm good in youtube world ? 3. Could the router and airport express be connected to the same speaker ? (Sorry not tech savy) Thanks in advance for your replies and consideration. Geiri
I have a MacBook Air with Mac OS Sierra 10.0.2. I have installed the Sonos app on my laptop and successfully added all my desired music sources. Except one: While following the directions to a tee, I cannot add my iTunes music library. I get this error and no, the name of my computer is not over 18 characters. Can someone advise on what is going on and the steps to successfully do this?
I'm struggling adding 2 ceiling speakers powered with a ZP90 to my current system which is a 3:1 system using a playbar and 2 x play 1's. I've got the ZP90 wired to the playbar with an Ethernet cable but I can't set it as part of the system. I've tried removing the current surrounds and adding them again but it doesn't see the ZP90 speakers. Can anyone help?
Goal: We need a way to toggle our Connect:Amp between a radio station and listening to TV. Set up: Our kitchen and family room are adjacent, and it's easy to watch the TV from the kitchen. But the space is large, so we have dedicated speakers in the kitchen, which are driven by a Connect:Amp. The TV has a Playbar and Sub-woofer. Problem: As simple as it sounds that we want to switch between a radio station and the TV, it requires multiple steps in the Sonos app to create/delete the group. It's a big enough pain that my wife mostly doesn't bother and just turns up the TV's Playbar volume really high (which drives me crazy!). Attempted solution: I bought a Caseta Pico Remote (from Lutron) hoping to use it to cycle between radio stations and TV. It works well to cycle between Sonos Favorites on the Connect:Amp, but the Sonos app doesn't have any support for saving a group as a Favorite. Suggestion: I would really like it if Sonos supporte
Good evening all, Firstly I'm new on here ( hello all ) so hope this is posted in the right section! I am not new to HiFi equipment or wireless speakers ( I have had a rather bad habit for the last 20 years ) and have had and sold more stuff than I care to think about, but I am new to Sonos, well until this weekend that is! I wanted to share the following with you as I cannot see anywhere on the forums or the net a Naim vs. Sonos comparison. Sunday afternoon, following a trip to my local John Lewis I returned home with a Play 5 Gen2 (£389) and the relatively new Naim Qu So QB (£595). I couldn't decide which one to go for and having any sort of meaningful demo was hopeless, Sonos Play 5 was connected to a Play 1, Play 3 and a Sonos soundbar which all seemed to playing at the same time on the Sonos stand, despite me trying to isolate the Play5 and even trying the line in option with the 3.5mm jack I brought with me as a last resort.( plus someone was streaming what sounded like
I have a PS4, Sky Q, sonos 3, two Sonos 1's , a Sonos playbar and Sony Bravia that's about 8 years old. At the moment I have the playbar connected to the sky Q box with an optical cable and an HDMI lead from sky box to TV. With this set up I can use the playbar to watch tv through sky. The TV does not have an optical out. My issue is trying to get the PS4 to run through the Sonos network. Can someone help?
Hi. I'm new to this community so hope I am doing this correctly. I recently unplugged my Sonos Play 5 but have found when I plug it back in to the mains now there is no power going to the unit, no light comes on and it is not registering. All the connections seem correct and my play 3 in another room is working fine. The bridge or connectivity unit is lit up as if it is working. The unit is not used frequently, prob just once a week. Can anybody advise me how to fix this before I have to send it back for repair? Thanks. Gary
I recently purchased a Playbar for a new home theatre set up (a work in progress). I understand from the setup instructions that the Playbar should only be placed such that there is at least 12 inches of clearance on both the left and right ends. This means that placing the Playbar in a speaker intergrated cabinet would be problematic -- unless the opening was at least 60-inches wide. I suppose I could just mount the Playbar on the wall, but I would much rather prefer to house it in a media cabinet because (I feel) such a cabinet helps to create a warm family room. In my search for the perfect media cabinet to suit my decorating taste (modern, somewhat minimalist) and one that would not compromise the Playbar, I came across the BDI Cavo 8168. This cabinet has a rather open design. It's like two cabinets in one. A taller and shallower part to accommodate the TV and a shorter and deeper part to accommodate components. Effectively, the top of the component cabinet that is positioned below
