Where to Begin

Where to begin?? I currently have a Yamaha Receiver with 5.1 output. All of the speakers expect for the subwoofer are mounted either in the wall or ceiling in my family room. I am doing some renovation to my home that is giving me access to the wiring. I would like to add ceiling speakers in my kitchen, dining room, patio, and three bedroom upstairs. I currently have a router in the basement. What do I need to add the speakers to the rooms/patio as separate zones?

For existing receivers/amplifiers, you would need the Sonos Connect. For the in-ceiling passive speakers, the Connect:Amp. Each Connect:Amp can power up to 2 pairs of 8 Ohm speakers, playing the same source at the same volume. With that number of rooms, you would also want to get a Boost to connect to the router. That will enable the Sonosnet mesh, which is more reliable and robust, and is recommended for a system with over 3-4 units.
