Hi.
looking for advice on upgrade.
I currently have a old play 5 and 2 x’s play 3.
used to stream from Spotify and also my Rega planar 1 plus.
all works fine although not updated for a few years.
looking to upgrade to a beam and a couple of Move 2. (I have been gifted 1 Move 2)
I understand the turntable may be an issue and require additional components.
can anyone help and advise on the best set up.

regards

If you’re planning a home theatre setup, you can’t use the Roams as surrounds, but you could use the Play:3’s.

Which Sonos speakers work as surrounds?

A matching pair of the following speakers will work as surrounds: Era 300, Era 100, Sonos One (including SL), Sonos Five, Play:1, Play:3, and Play:5 (Gen 2).

What Gen is your :5? If it’ll run on S2 you can still use the turntable via the Aux there.

 Just edited original post.

Its the Move 2 i have been gifted and would like to add to and extend.
my Play 5 is Gen 1.

Not concerned about surround sound

Hi @Wallands

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Your old Play:5 is the only speaker that won’t work as part of the same system as the others - the Play:3 speakers can be added to the S2 system that the Move 2 and Beam (Gen 2) will require.

You could keep the Play:5 for playing the turntable, but if you want to be able to stream that to the other speakers, that would not be an option with the Play:5. You could instead get a Sonos Line-In Adapter to plug into one of your Move 2s, but you could not then share the feed with the Play:5, but could with other speakers.

I hope this helps.
