I’m looking to replace my older Control4 system and wondering if Sonos is a good option. I have 6 rooms with 2 wired speakers in each room. Looking to stream Spotify and connect a TV via HDMI. I’m all about DIY. Thanks much.

Hi @JimmyBinSC.

Welcome, thank you for reaching out to Sonos Community.

If you want to control multiple rooms you can try Sonos Amp.

And for home theater, we can recommend the Sonos beam or Playbar.

All of the Sonos products can be controlled via PC, Tablets,Mobile phones.

Let us know if it works. If you need help with any other information, please be sure to let us know.

How many rooms with two speakers in each can an amp support?

One. Each Sonos device is a ‘room’ or ‘zone’. Normally, with care of which speakers you match with the Amp, you might be able to push two pairs of speaker, still in one ‘zone’. If you get the Sonance Architectural series speakers, which Sonos has a co-marketing agreement on, you can connect three pairs to a single Amp/zone/room.

So if I want to control each of the six rooms separately I need six amps? That’s pretty steep $$$$$

Yes. As I said, a single zone is a single Sonos device, whether it’s a Sonos Amp, or a Sonos Port. There are no Sonos devices that are designed to send multiple streams at the same time.
