Connecting Playbase

Can anyone give me advice on connecting the Playbase audio cables. I have an old Panasonic Viera TV without an optical audio input. It does have an HDMI input and I wondered about connecting the Playbase via this using a converter cable. Any advice?

You'll need to buy an HDMI audio extractor. Something like this would work:
