Already have 1 Play 5, 2 Play 3s, and 1 Play 1 in 3 different rooms.
Would adding a sub in one of the rooms (room with 2x play 3s) add to the experience in all three rooms or just the one room where sub is installed?

Well it will take some bass off the two play:3's if you pair it with them.

But say your listening to musinc on the play:5 in another room. You could group the Play:5 with the Play:3's and then the sub will be playing in sync with the Play:5. You could bring it in the room with the play:5 to get more bass in that room at that moment. Or if didn't want to have to group with the Play:3 then it is pretty quick process to repair it with the Play:5
