Hi there,I have already programmed my Samsung remote to the playbar but i was wondering if the IR on the playbar can somehow be controlled using Google assistant just to turn the tv off and on? The only thing i can find on this is using the beam which uses its hdmi too control the tv. Many thanks for the advice as to whether this can be done or not. Cheers Rob
I currently use Google Assistant in 2 different places, lets call them home1 and home2. Both homes are set up under different locations in the google home app (home1 and home2) , and all cast devices are appropriately assigned. In home1, I have a chromecast connected to a TV, and have been using Google assistant to turn off the TV ("turn off TV' usually works). Recently, I have set up a sonos beam with google assistant in home2. Now, when I am in home1, and ask Google assistant to 'turn off TV', it says 'turning off Sonos TV control'. This is referring to a Sonos TV control device that has been assigned to home2 (I assume is a feature of the Sonos Beam). I have no sonos devices in home1. I have tried renaming my Home1 TV to something else (television for example), with no change - the command to turn it off keeps activating this Sonos TV control located in home2. Anyone have any idea how to stop Google assistant from calling on a device not located within my current loca
Hi, I have a friend staying my flat while I’m away and I don’t have access to my Wifi. They are casting their Spotify music to my speaker and it appears on my phone despite being in another country. What can I do about it? I tried using the Sonos app on my phone to remove the Spotify account but I couldn’t access my speaker because I’m not connected to the Wifi.
When I ask my Sonos: "Hey, Google! Play Heart 80s". It replies with: "Playing Heart 80s on TuneIn". However, it then says: "Sorry I can't find what you asked for". This is really disappointing, because Alexa plays radio stations without any issues. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Hello, I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction, as finding a lot of conflicting information on this topic. I have 2x Play:1’s and a Play:3 and I have just bought a ONE with the voice service feature, and I have set it up with Amazon Alexa. I can control the ONE with Alexa without issues, but when I try to group the speakers and then control all speakers with Alexa, it doesn’t work; if I try to pause the music, it de-groups the ONE before pausing the music on that speak only. My question is, can I set up my speakers so I can control them all through Alexa, or do I need to purchase a third-party app such as SonoSequencer? Thanks in advance for you advice and help! Scott.
Been trying to get this working for over a day with no success at the moment, things i’ve done: Removed all Music Services apart from Spotify (which is also set up on my GA) Here’s what happens - I try to add the GA from the add voice services section of the app, this then opens a web page that then redirects me to the app store for GA - I already have that installed and it just says open. When i manually open the app nothing happens - i can manually link Sonos in the GA app, which works, but the Sonos app then tells me i have an error. This is for 3 Sonos One (Gen 1) devices Any ideas?
I’m sure I am not the first to find this, but I just spent an hour watching this video explaining how Alexa Multi Room Music works. They also explain how the hand off works to third party systems which don’t support Alexa MRM such as Sonos. If you like technical content, then enjoy… Alexa Multi-Room Music
Hi, I’ve enabled the “Works with Sonos” feature to pair my new Sonos port and Onkyo TX-NR686 reciever, and the feature works really nicely when starting and stopping music from the sonos iOS app. (i.e the receiver switches over to the Sonos source) However when I trigger music to start playing on Sonos from Alexa the receiver doesn’t switch, which I suspect is due to Sonos not putting out the same wake command as it does when music is started form the app. Are my suspicions correct? and is there anything which can or is being done to fix this? Thanks, Aaron
I have recently set up my new sonos one gen 2 speaker with spotify free with google assistant but unfortunately more often than not it plays different artists from what we ask it too. i.e Hey Google, play The Verve and it states it will play The Verve but it plays Stereophonics instead. It’s the same if ask it to play a certain song it will play something different. Has anyone experienced this issue? Thanks
I’ve got my Sonos speakers linked with my Google account and until recently I could tell Google Assistant, either on my phone or on my Nest Hub, to “listen to ‘artist/song’ in the ‘roomname’” and it would play the choice on the Sonos speaker in that room. Something seems to have changed recently though. Now if I say “listen to ‘artist/song’ in the “roomname” it ignores the room and just plays on the device that received the request. The Sonos speakers show up in Google Home and in the correct rooms, when someone rings my Nest doorbell the Sonos speakers announce that there’s someone at the door, and if I ask the Assistant to “play ‘artist/song’ on ‘speakername’” it will work. I’ve tried moving the speakers between rooms in the app, I’ve unlinked and relinked my Sonos account and I’ve made sure that my One speakers are set up to use Assistant too, just in case, but it still won’t work as it used to. Any ideas?
My Sonos beam use to confirm changes to lights in the same room with a chime, after google made this change to google assistant. But in the last couple of months it’s gone back to telling me “turning off 4 lights” rather than a discreet chime. I have tried turning my beam off and rebooting but it still won’t go back to using the chime response. Has this feature been broken on Sonos speakers by a Google or Sonos update? I still get the chime response on google home mini’s I have in the house. Thanks
I would like to create a “group” for all my Sonos speakers within Google Assistant so I can adjust volume, play music etc. on ALL the Sonos speakers at once. I have them assigned to separate rooms, but still would like to address them as one. I have tried creating a “speaker group” in Google Assistant, but the only device that shows up is my Google Home speaker and my Sonos Beam.
I have been struggling with getting my sonos one to work with google assistant. I have tried everything suggested. Sometimes it allows me to play music (youtube music paid subscription) and radio and other times it just ignores me. Very frustrating. Currently it won’t let me add anything to my shopping list at all (just ignores me!) although it will let my son add items! Compared to my google mini it is a world away from the voice functionality that has. Does anyone find that sonos/google works and is it worth persevering or should I just accept it isn’t going to work as a google smart speaker? It is under a year old so I should be able to return it as faulty since the google functionality doesn’t work. I could then either get a google max speaker or use my google mini to pair with another wireless speaker. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or advice!? James
I am using a Sonos Amp (actually several of them) to power existing in ceiling speakers throughout my home. I am trying out the Harmony system and have incorporated Sonos. However, when I setup a Sonos activity the Harmony Remote will not power on the Sonos zone. If I already had music playing in that zone and it was just paused, the Harmony system will work and play the music. Any ideas?
I have a Sonos One in my living room and a Echo Show 5 in my entryway. I also have a Ring Pro doorbell. When someone is at the door, I can say "Answer Deck Door" and the Echo Show will use the Ring skill to show the doorbell camera. I have the Sonos One configured as an Alexa device. The problem I have is that sometimes the Sonos One answers me instead of the Echo Show. There is no Ring skill for the Sonos, so it gives an error message. The Echo Show clearly hears me as well, because I get a blue bar at the bottom of the screen. The Echo Show and Sonos One negotiate and decide the Sonos One is closer, so it answers. Is there any way to make the Echo Show answer me or have the Sonos pass the question to the Echo Show?
I have the privacy settings set pretty tight on Google … no web activity, no location activity, etc. I’m having issues with GA interacting w/ Sonos. I can see the devices in Google Home settings, but when I try to play music on one of them it resonds, “To get help with that, I’ll need more information...”. I assume that’s Google oblique way of telling me I need pull my privacy pants down and go full-blown GA.
