I was looking at the Sonos one since it has Alexa integrated and Google assistant might come in the future. But i only have free music services and no paid/premium subscriptions. I was wondering if its still worth getting the Sonos One or consider Bose Sound touch 10 with Amazon echo dot (amounts to similar price) which adds Bluetooth and Aux input.
I am trying to add the new Play1 to my system. Using the 'add a new player' function... it finds the new speaker, asks me to press the button on the back but then just keeps coming up with an error saying it can't connect??? It suggests moving it closer to the router, but it is only 2 metres away! Any ideas?
New to the sonos and alexa game, treated myself to a sonos one. Want to love it, but it's currently a fairly useless, but nice sounding white box. All connected up ok, but when I ask it to play anything on tunein for example it says, "playing bbc radio" but then doesn't find or change the station. Only way I can get it to play is direct through the sonos app. Help?!
I used a 50% off voucher to buy a Dot. Wish I had read more about it first. I use the Deezer service through Sonos. It isn't supported by Dot so I although I can get Alexa to play music I have no idea what music is going to play or (more frustrating) where the source of the music is. I am going to disconnect it as its a waste of electricity.
Hi all, Got the new Sonos 1 with Alexa yesterday and experiencing some annoying issues. I must state that i have had it working and playing sounds. But now i say "Alexa play...." and she says she is playing it but no sound. On my Alexa app it has the device name of Sonos 1 and the 'Family Room' name. Sonos 1 says online but Alexa says she is playing in the 'Family Room'. Its like there are 2 devices and she plays to the wrong one. I should state that askkng her a question gets an audible answer. Oncw i have it working, if i unplug ita back to not working again... At the moment i am somewhat disappointed with the product as i expected more. Any help much appreciated. CL
New unit arrived today. New Account, first device installed. Few quirks on the setup. largely went well. Sonos app / Speaker didn't like the Wifi Network I was joining to, so I had to hardwire, run updates, then run the Wifi Setup while hardwired. All good. Setup Spotify, SiriusXM, Pandora, Amazon Music. All play fine via Sonos App. Nice. Expected nothing less based on feedback I've heard from others. Enable Alexa - the federation process was pretty bad. Click on the enable button, and it flips out to the Amazon app on my iPhone, then immediately flips back to the Sonos app. and no progress. cancel out, reboot speaker, reboot app, reboot phone... same... multiple attempts. Uninstalled Amazon app. Ran Alexa enable again - this time the setup invokes Safari and goes to Amazon website, authenticates me, then brings me to perms for Enabling Alexa on Sonos. Good times... working now. Alexa told me a joke. :-) "Did you hear about golf's new super hero? His name is [i]on the green lan
I just got Sonos One/Alexa hooked up and operating. Some of the voice commands recommended do not work, crickets from Alexa. But my big issue is that the music from my sound bar and sub are working together but SonosOne is not integrated with them. Alexa has discovered devices a nd plays music alone but still no music comes from her speaker to join with my existing Sonos Play Bar and Sub. When I ask her to play the music it only comes on on her speaker. Totally annoying as I want all speakers to play for rich sound. Does anyone else have this issue and what is the fix? Also on my sonos app on my iphone 6s with the new IOS 11.0.3, I can see my two existing speakers but not the Sons One.
I should have done my homework better - I assumed I could just replace one of my Play:1 surround speakers with a Play One. I was wrong on several counts 1) You can't pair a Play:1 and a Play One - Setup up won't allow you to do it. 2) There's no screw fixing point on the Play One - there is a button on the rear instead. Had to use double-sided foam tape to mount the speaker on my floor stand (obv. before I discovered point 1 above) 3) They don't match - the :1 is grey, and the One is black. They looked weird either side of the sofa. 4) I can't use the 'Echo' wake word - both of my other Echos use 'Echo' and the family is very used to this now. Also the Play One isn't that far from the kitchen Echo, so I would like to just have one word to shout out, and let the Echos sort out which one responds. 5) They sound different - I think the One sounded a bit richer, and this maybe something that could be resolved by clever tuning, but given pint (1), it doesn't seem likely this is somethi
I received my Sonos One today and set it up; however, the only music player/system/vender that can be accessed through Alexa is Amazon Music. I was able to manually link accounts through iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify. via the Sonos and Alexa apps, but Alexa could not search their content for music. I made the appropriate changes to the settings for default library; however, I continually received in return 20 second samples from Amazon Music. I'm not an audiophile and not paying Amazon $120+ per year to ask for the weather and occasional music requests for Amazon Music. When manually setting up stations on your device (iPhone 7 in my case) in various apps, music plays on the Sonos One. I purchased this to be hands free and seamless. Seriously, your app is not ready for the hardware roll-out? My goal was to make this a verbal application of the service/hardware. WTF? TuneIn is listed but not a supported app either? The sound is great of the Sonos One, as with all Sonos produ
Trying to link Sonos with Alexa, having a massive issue that I can't get past. It appears that I can only connect to Alexa over mobile data as soon as I try on wifi it times out. Obviously this is a problem as Sonos needs wifi turned on. Toggling between the two didn't really get me much further, just made me think this is where the problem lies. I've trawled the web, rebooted all devices, cleared caches. If only I could set this up from the Sonos web client then maybe I'd get somewhere (else that is just wishful thinking). Any ideas? please....
So i've finally joined the sonos world, with a sonos one that arrived today. Now that i have an integrated echo dot, i have my old echo dot which isn't doing very much. I was wondering if i can have it so the echo dot is connected to my old speaker system in another room and link it to the sonos setup? it may be wishful thinking, but it would be good to have the echo dot working effectively as a sonos bridge thing.
Got a Dot today using the discount code - thanks. Been playing about and noticed something. After asking Alexa to play Radio 2 in the kitchen (play 3) (started fine), I then asked her to play Radio 2 in the Living Room (stereo pair of Play 1's) The Stream started OK but was significantly out of sync with the Kitchen. Obviously the rooms were not grouped but I would have expected the audio to be synced - I believe had I started 2 independent streams via the app (not grouping) the audio would still be in sync - maybe I am wrong on that? I was experimenting really and would normally just group the rooms (I expect I can do this via voice at a later date) so not a big deal but I was surprised with this. Anyone else noticed this
