Play5 range dramatically decreased after last app upgrade

About 10 days ago I was prompted to go through an update (app/speaker). Before that the speaker, an early version of the Play5, was working fine in all of the locations in the house/garage. Now it doesn't. It only works (i.e., is shown in the app) when the speaker is within 10' of the router. It's now basically useless. Anyone experience this, or know what might have happened?
