I'm trying to set up the Playbar with a Panasonic Viera TH-37PX70B but can't get the Playbar cable to connect. Can anyone recommend a way around this (other than buying a brand new tv with the digital audio out port)?

Looks about right to me, yes.

You can buy RCA to SPDIF converters. Google should get you there. Would this be suitable?

Belly M, Stuart W - thank you both for pointing this out. Is there a work around to allow me to connect the Playbar?

The manual you linked to clearly shows there is NO optical audio cable out (only RCA).
Are you sure about the optical output? I had the 42" version and pretty sure it was just analogue out but may be wrong?

Hi John. Yes, there is a digital audio out but the problem is that the Playbar's optical cable doesn't fit into the port. The Panasonic TV port is not the D shape needed by the Playbar. This the relevant page in the manual for my type of TV. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/652321/Panasonic-Viera-Th-37px70b.html?page=22#manual
Any idea what kind of converter cable would work with this?
Are you sure it has no form of digital audio out? If it has digital coaxial out you should be able to find a converter cable. If it only has analogue RCA audio out then i believe Flexson have an RCA analogue to digital optical converter marketed specifically for the Playbar
