No sound when watching amazon Netflix etc

Just purchased my sound bar and play 1’s. I get great sound with regular cable But when I switch to smart TV or apps I still hear the cable. No sound on the other Apps. My optical cord is plugged into my cable box please advise. Everything is up-to-date since I just purchased.

Yes, your TV should be receiving audio from your cable box via HDMI, and your Playbar should be receiving audio from the TV via optical. This way, whatever you're watching on TV - cable or smart apps - you'll get the sound.

Your optical cable should be coming from the TV optical out, not the cable box...
Ok but will the speakers still
