No Sound from Play 1's Play 3's acting as surround sound speakers to a Playbar

I have attached 2 play 1 speakers to my new playbar.
I am getting no sound from either of the play 1 speakers, either in tv mode watching a 5.1 source or in music mode.
When I stop the play 1 speakers from being surround sound speakers from the playbar I can play through the play 1's without a problem.
The sonos speakers are all wireless - connect to the router via a sonos bridge.
When connected as surround sound speakers I have set the TV and Music volumes to maximum and set the music setting to FULL.
When the speakers are connected the mute and volume buttons on the play1's do control the volume of music coming out of the playbar, but the play1's themselves are completely silent.
I also have a pair of play 3 speakers which I also tried with the same result.

Any suggestions?

Go to About My Sonos System in your controller. Do the surrounds appear in the list, as '(LS)' and '(RS)'?

You're in the UK. What router are you using?
Hi - Yes it showed LS and RS.
Been on the phone to support for an hour - in the end they think there is a problem with the 5GHz channel on the playbar and are sending a replacement.
