"New" S1 components no longer work on the S1 app?!?

New setup: I have a Playbar, Sub (Gen2), two Ones and two connect:amps. They have all been factory reset.  All of these are compatible with the S1 app per the Sonos webpage.

I have the Playbar directly connected to the router, nothing else is connected.  My phone is on wifi running the S1 app.

I run the setup process and the S1 app sees the Playbar after I press the two buttons and hear the chime.  Once the progress bar stops though I’m being told that the Playbar is not compatible with the S1 app and I need to use the S2 app.  (error message below)

Did something change on the S1 app to prevent these previously accepted devices from being added?  I’m confused as to why I’m getting this message.

Have you tried resetting the Playbar again? Be sure to follow these steps: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/1096?language=en_US

Thanks….Yes, that was the process I followed to reset the components.

For the record, I get the same message when I try to setup a One as well.

You can’t setup an S1 Sonos Household with a device that is also S2 compatible, you can only add that device to an existing S1 Household.

To create an S1 system you must use an S1 only capable device, as listed in this link:

Thanks, That makes sense.

I now have a Bridge connected and no longer see that S2 message.  I do however still have an issue.

The Playbar is physically connected to the router.  I run the setup process, it sees the Playbar and I press the two buttons.  I hear the chime and the status bar starts. I then get an error at the very end which is confusing.

Wire the Bridge to the router. No need to wire the (factory reset) playbar - but if you feel the need, then wire it to the Bridge, rather than the router.

I gave up and caved, loaded the S2 app and it was smooth sailing. Installed the S1app too for the connect:amps. They work too. I wanted to avoid the duel apps but every one seems happy.
