Issues with volume control on Playbase using Apple TV siti remote

Hi. I am using Playbase with my TV and Apple TV 4K.

Setup:

  1. HDMI from Apple TV connected to the HDMI ARC port of the TV.
  2. Optical cable connection between TV and Sonos Playbase
  3. TV sound settings it set to ‘External Speakers’

It was all working as expected. I was able to control the volume of my Sonos with the Apple TV remote  It would not link/change the volume on my TV.

I recently did a software update on my Apple TV and on the TV (Android). Not sure what caused it but now, The volume buttons on Apple TV also controls the volume of the TV. So when ever i increase the volume, both outputs are active and i hear double sound.

Its really annoying. Checked all settings of TV, Cant disable tv speakers.

Anyone else faced this issue?

Hi @imwickkd, and welcome to the Sonos Community :)

Mind sharing the make/model of TV you’re using? The TV should just be directing the audio to the Playbase, however it sounds like something may have gone wrong during the update.

It may be worth doing a soft reset of the TV, by fully powering it off, and unplugging it at the wall for a few minutes before powering it back on - cycling the speaker selection between TV speakers and external speakers may also help.

Let us know how you get on!
