I have a sonos system with a play 5 speaker (1st generation)., which I have had for three years. I purchased a play 1 speaker yesterday so that I could set up the two speakers to provide stereo sound. When I tried to set them up using the setup link on the website, it said that I could only set up for stereo with two play 1 speakers. I find it hard to believe that stereo is not possible with a play1 and a play 5. A FAQ says that for stereo you must have two of the same speakers of the same generation. I find it hare to believe that people clever enough to produce this great system can't think of a way to match dissimilar speakers in a stereo setup. Can someone please tell me if this can be done and, if not, what I can do short of returning the play 1 and living with the mono sound. I really like the system and feel that there must be some way to match the two different speakers for stereo sound. I assume that 1st generation play 5s are no longer available?
ISP is Frontier DSL. Had been using a NetGear 7550 Modem Router for more than a year with no (Sonos related) issues. Have been having some DSL speed and connection issues generally, and Frontier upgraded me to the D2200D. Which works fine with all of my other devices, excepitng Sonos. As soon as I connect the Sonos bridge via ethernet cable to the D2200D, I lose internet connectivity. For now, I've temporirly gone back to the 7550 and it's working ok. Any suggestions appreciated.
I have a play bar and 2 play3s which I have hooked up to my Samsung TV. Play3s kick in great on music but not so much on spoken word scenarios? This is probably the generic position but can I change it so that the play3s operate all the time? Not a real issue but any thoughts welcome. Many thanks, Ian
We have had the Sonos system and it's played well for about a year. Now all of a sudden when we try to play music it's telling us that it can't recognise the server. We haven't changed anything but we can't play any music. We can still play the radio just not the music. Has anybody else experienced similar problems and how did you fix it?
This situation has existed for some time and initial comments from Sonos appear to suggest the issue would be resolved. Can someone please confirm if there are any plans to re-enable the capability to play Audible content via my Sonos (without buying extra hardware) the way this used to work? Or should I just throw the Sonos in the bin and get a decent system, that actually still does what it advertised as doing? Thanks, Gordon
I setup the playbar and sub today, everything was working perfectly. I unplugged the playbar to hang my tv on the wall, and when I plugged everything back in, the tv sound no longer works. I can still play music, the optical cable is still lit, and have tried repeatedly unplugging and resetting each component and even did a factory reset on the playbar and still don't have sound coming in from the tv. On my "about my Sonos system" it shows "audio in: silence". I sent my system diagnostics in and confirmation number is 6844861.
Hello.., any speakers that I group with my Playbar, the sound starts to cutoff in and out, on that speaker, not on the Playbar, but those speakers by themselves or grouped with other speakers are working fine, I'm running the latest update, I have tried unplugging everything, but nothing fixes the problem, is any one else having this issue? Thanks.
Hi, I have Denon AVR-X4100W - and would like to use my existing Sonos Connect:Amp and play:1's for surround sound. I have read conflicting takes. Is it possible to use the Connect or the Connect:amp as Surround sound without the Playbar? Thank You!
Any new music i download to my iPhone or ipad from apple music doesn't show in the "On this iPhone", i can use the Apple Music tab to go find it that way but if i go to "on this iphone" and try and find any of the songs or album they just are not there. Also if i add a newly dowloaded song to one of my playlists on the iphone they don't update within the Sonos app either. I've tried updating the music index but that doesn't do anything. help!!
I have connected the analog audio of my TV to my Sonos Amp. Audio is perfectly transmitted to the Amp-connected speakers. But the Play:3 audio (which is in my set-up) is interrupted / no continuous stream. If I play from the Sonos app everything works perfect (speakers @ Sonos Amp AND also Play:3 play perfect) , no interruption of the stream. Any idea?
I have a Playbar, Sub & 2 Play 1's set up as a 5.1 set-up. Been going pretty well ( apart from constant audio dropouts which still hasn't been sorted!) I updated the iOS app today to version 7 and found the option to Trueplay my speakers. So after Trueplay was finished...I now have the dialogue coming from not just the Playbar but also my surround Play 1's. So instead of getting effects and proper surround channel distribution I'm now hearing spoken dialogue coming through very clearly in the surrounds. ( which shouldn't be happening). Any advice greatly appreciated.
Hopefully I'm missing something very obvious... I had linked my Spotify premium account as soon as Ver. 7 was released (during the beta actually). Now I cannot see any of my Sonos devices in the Spotify app. Further, in the Sonos Advanced Settings/Music Sources (Mac app) there is no option for 'Control Sonos from Spotify'. I assume that's because I already set it up? But it's not working. Thanks for your help!! Adam
Hi all, Firstly, deepest apologies for posting a subject which has probably been covered a million times, but here we go... I currently have two 'ecosystems' - I have a pair of Sonos Play 1 speakers used exclusively for music. I also have a Sony Bravia TV with a Sony soundbar + sub - the sound bar is attached to the TV via an optical cable (formerly it was HDMI - not sure why I swapped) Neither system interacts with each other. If I was to purchase a Sonos Connect, can I move the two Sonos 1s to rear speakers and use the existing soundbar as a 'front' speaker? The Sony soundbar only has 1x optical port, but 4 HDMI ports. Obvs the optical port is being used at the moment. Should I reconnect the HDMI port from the soundbar to the TV thus freeing the optical port which would allow me to connect the Sonos Connect? I know all this is possible, but just need some guidance, please. Thank you in advance. Mark
