Will upgrades tot eh Sonos controller eventually mean that I will lose functionality on my Android phone which is running 4.1.2?

At some point, surely that must be inevitable? It may be improvements to the Sonos system, not just the controller, that makes this unavoidable. The only way Sonos could guarantee otherwise would be to halt developments. They generally have a great record of trying to avoid making devices obsolete.
