beam no longer connected to sonos ones

Previously we had our sonos ones (stereo pair) connected as surrounds to our beam. Just noticed the surrounds no longer connect.  I’ve done the factory reset and a) added them to the same room and b) put them under a separate room and grouped to room with the beam.  When I try to “add surrounds” it takes a few moments and then gives an error.  Has a change gone through to make them not speak together?
thank you for your help!

Unplug the Beam and Ones from power for about a minute and reboot your router.

Be sure WiFi is enabled on the Beam in the Sonos app.

Each One should be added to your system as a separate room. Then follow the steps in this article:

If this doesn’t work, try wiring the Beam directly to the router with an ethernet cable and try to set up the Ones as surrounds again.

FYI… a pair of Sonos Ones have to be separated as a stereo pair before they are added as surrounds.
