Arc + Amp as rears stopped working

For months I’ve been using an Arc with my TV, an Amp powering 2 rear ceiling speakers as the rear surrounds, and sub. The whole thing has been running on Wi-Fi alone, but now all of a sudden the rear surrounds are not being recognized and lose connection. I would like to avoid connecting the an Ethernet cable to the Arc because there’s no clean way of doing it with the setup I have. I know an Ethernet cable will probably do the trick, but it’s frustrating that it suddenly won’t connect over Wi-Fi since that’s part of the reason I got Sonos in the first place. Was this something Sonos updated and now Ethernet is a requirement to have rear surrounds with the Arc? Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

There’s no reason to connect the rear surrounds Amp with an ethernet cable. Although it does befuddle me as to how it was powering a Subwoofer, as when used to run surrounds, the subwoofer output is turned off. I could see the Sub being bonded to the Arc, though. 

I’d be looking at an initial reboot of both the Arc, as well as the Sonos Amp, and then looking at sources of potential wifi interference. If that doesn’t end up helping, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and network.

Note: It’s also worth double checking the source material, to ensure that it’s in a 5.1 format. I’ve had cases when shows are in stereo….and I get surprised when the advertisements are in surround :)

Apologies as I also posted in another thread but I am having exact same issue. My amp connected speakers stopped playing surround in the last few days (presumably the 14.12 update?). They work standalone as own zone but I get nothing from them as surround with my Arc. I tried rebooting everything many times and removing and adding etc but no luck. They worked perfectly fine for 9 months until this week.
