When will Siri be available as Assist on e.g. SONOS One?

When Alexa came, it was announced that Siri would follow soon. I‘m still waiting.

It was never announced that Siri would  be available on Sonos, because Apple didn’t allow Siri on 3rd party hardware (though that is changing).  What was announced was you could use Siri on your Apple device to control Airplay on a Sonos speaker, and that has been available since Airplay 2 arrived on Sonos.  See the following link:

2018 announced CEO Patrick Spence to integrate Alexa, Goolge and Siri as speech assist into the speakers.

The announcement was exactly as jgatie stated.  You can talk to Siri on your phone to play music on Sonos via airplay 2.

No, he most certainly did not.  This is a direct quote from the press release (bold by me):

Apple AirPlay 2 Coming in 2018

Sonos also announced that it will begin supporting Apple’s AirPlay 2 in 2018, making it possible to play any sound from an iOS device – including YouTube videos and Netflix movies – on Sonos speakers throughout the house.  Owners will also be able to ask any Siri-enabled device to control music on Sonos speakers.

Regardless of what was said, we now know that soon (iOS 15) Siri can be integrated into third party devices (for example, ecobee have it on the thermostats). Will it be added to existing Sonos devices, such as the Beam and One?
