I recently removed the LAN wire from my Beam and setup my Sonos system to use wireless instead due to lack of available connections on my router. Now every time I group speakers I get the often reported wireless range extender error message. I do not have a wireless range extender.

Please advise.

My system: Beam x 1 | One (V1) x2 | Play:1 x 4 pair | Play: 3 x1

What type of router do you have? Can you get this error at will? If so, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the phone folks, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and network.

I have a Fibre to the home router which provides the Wi-Fi my Sonos system is connected to. I get this error every time I choose to ‘Group’ any Sonos speakers in the Sonos S2 app.

I will do as you suggest and submit support diagnostics and call Sonos Support. Thanks.

After you get this resolved I’d also buy a cheap unmanaged Ethernet switch and increase the number of lan connections.  They cost less than £20 and are plug an play.

I contacted support and it seems a simple reboot of my Sonos system (unplug power and plug back in again) was all that was required to fix this error. Doh!:flushed:

… but after a few minutes it’s back again
