Wifi issues, but can I use Sonos speakers with just wireless wifi?

I purchased a Sonos Play 5 (gen 1) some days ago that I am going to set up in my parents home. they do not need much so this is why I went for the gen 1, since its much cheaper. I also have a Sonos connect (ZP100) that I'm going to connect to their receiver and use the speakers that already is plugged into it.

This setup is going to be on 2 different floors. The problem as I see it is that they do have wifi through a small "mobile box" . The range is good and goes out in all rooms that Sonos speakers should be in. But I am a bit confused. If I power ut the CONNECT, will this work? is it ok that nothing is connected to the router? is it this times Sonos will use the wireless network to create a own wifi called Sonos Net??

Thanks allot for answers to my little problem :D:D

SonosNet is only enabled if one or more Sonos devices are wired to the network. However, you can run Sonos entirely off the normal WiFi signal. The article below should help explain the options.

Hi Mathias albrigtsen

Not sure what you mean by "small mobile box" maybe something is loss to me in the translation (I'm in USA :)). At any rate whichever WiFi generator is being employed it should be capable of producing a 2.4Ghz signal at minimum (b/g/n protocol). Also, you'll want to factory reset the devices (Play 5 and Connect) before you start the setup process.

The SonoNet is only available if you wire one of the products to the router otherwise all components will join the local Wi-Fi.
