trouble connecting Sonos to new WiFi network

In the controller app, I went to Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Wireless Setup and went through the steps of connecting to new WiFi. All went well and I got a message like "your Sonos is now connected to ". But it was actually still running on the original WiFi, nothing had changed. Tried power-cycling my Play 5's no difference. Any advice on how to fix this? I am running the latest Sonos firmware.

Post above should say "your Sonos is now connected to new-SSID" - would fix that directly, but the UI for editing posts is not working (Google Chrome on Mac OS Sierra.
