Sonos App incompatible with zScaler

I'd like to report the result of a troubleshooting session.

My Sonos App stopped on Android.

Refreshing, uninstalling and reinstalling the app and restarting it produced no results.

No attempts at rejoining or setting up the system were successful.

The speaker system was however perfectly accessible and functional from different devices and from the desktop MacOS app.

Once I removed the zScaler VPN app from the Android phone, the Sonos app was able to connect to the system immediately and quickly.

The nature of a VPN is to connect between a single device on your end, and a single device on the other. This blocks the ability of the Sonos controller to reach out and talk to your speakers on your own network.

This is not unique to zScaler, any VPN works this way. 

Of course - I fully agree.

However, the incompatibility I'm reporting occurs even while the VPN is off, i.e., when zScaler is inactive. 

It is sufficient for zScaler to be installed at all for Sonos connectivity to be disrupted.
