Large variances in volume levels

  • How do you fix a problem of very low volume for spoken word/dialogue, but very high volume for music or background sound effects? We are continually turning the volume up to hear dialogue, but then get blown back in our chairs as soon as there is background sound effects or music played. It's so frustrating having to continually adjust the volume!

Presumably this is a Sonos home theatre player (Beam etc). Have you enabled Speech Enhancement?

Thanks for your fast reply.

Yes, It's a Beam.

How do I enable Speech Enhancement?
There's a button on the Now Playing screen of the Sonos controller app for that room when the source is TV. (The other button is Night Mode.)
Okay....I have enabled Speech Enhancement, but there is still a big variance in the volume levels between dialogue and music/background sound effects.
It can obviously depend on how the movie/broadcast audio was mixed. Do you have surround speakers with the Beam?
