I am a few days new to the Sonos system and I looked all around the FAQ for the answer to the following question: How do I remove unwanted controllers from the Sonos system? For example, I allow a friend to use his iPOD / iPHONE during a party to control my Sonos system. Once the party is over, I want to remove his IPOD as a controller. I poked around the desktop software for a solution but no luck. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it.
I downloaded and installed the Sonos application for Windows 10 desktop. When start the application, I see the following: While I should see: according the Windows Central website. What am I doing wrong? I disabled my F-Secure / Windows firewall but that does not help. I also connected the Sonos Connect an a Sonos One speaker with an ethernet cable directly to the router, and that did not help either. Any advice is more than welcome. Thanks P.S. I phoned Sonso support in the Netherlands, and they claimed that the Windows app did not work and iOS or Android was required (maybe they were referring to Windows 10 Mobile...?!).
Hi, I would like to know whether it is possible to setup a Sonos sound system without internet/router/boosy... I own a Play 1 and I would borrow a Play 5 from another user. We would like to setup a Sonos network somewhere where we don't have any internet and that for just one evening. Is is possible to set this up by just using a laptop (with a downloaded music library on spotify), connect that laptop for example with the Play 5 and connect that Play 5 with the Play 1. I could use a UTP cable between the laptop and the Play 5. thx for feedback
Had a quick search for this topic, but got a nil return, so what are users opinion of the optimum orientation of the PLAY 5? Are the tweeters close to the edge with the control buttons? Horizontal or vertical? Tweeters outside or inside? I'm sure I read somewhere that the sonic profile is altered slightly depending on orientation.
I have a Samsung TV (MU6290) and a Sonos Beam. I can get audio to work through the optical port no problem. However I would like to use the Beam via HDMI (ARC) port. After trying everything i could with Samsung (updates to firmware and software) i am still seeing the same issue with Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC). It tells me that I am not connected,, I've tried using a different HDMI cable with no luck either. I am hoping someone here can help me out. When i test the Anynet+ it turns the visuals off and on like it is communicating to each other, then says that Anynet is not connected. I don't think this community is anything like Samsung tech support but just in case, YES everything has been reset and unplugged several times.
Good morning- I have a 2014 MBP. I'm using a Bridge to set up Sonos. I can connect to my Sonos system using my iOS apps and control it that way, but I can't get the desktop controller to connect to the existing Sonos system. I've tried powering on and off the bridge, setting up as new system, but the desktop controller won't connect to the Sonos system. I can connect and control things from my iPhone and iPad, just not my desktop (when I'm working). I've also tried resetting the controller. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Quite often questions arise as to the proper placement of the Sonos Arc (and/or what type of room design). All Dolby Atmos speakers (as does the Arc) rely upon an optimum ceiling height to allow the upward firing speakers to reflect and bounce sound to the listening area. In traditional Dolby Atmos setups where all speakers are separate even the rears have an upward firing driver.Soundbars such as the Sonos Arc require (as much as possible) a symmetry of placement distance to the side walls as well. That allows for side firing speakers (that lend support to the upward firing speakers) to project rearward sound reflections to simulate surround when no actual rear speakers are used. Adding Sonos rears relieves the Arc of some of the surround sound reflection duties. My Arc resides in a room 12.5ft (width) x 19.5ft (length) x 8ft (height). All wall surfaces are smooth with a minimalist textured ceiling. The complete setup consists of Arc / Sub x 2 / Sonos One x 2.Questions have also risen
I bought two Sonos One speakers. I was able to set one of them up with no problem. The second one cannot be set up. I go to Manage -> Add Player or Sub, and follow the instructions. The next screen says "We found 1 new player near you:" and shows the correct picture of the One, Black with the correct serial number. I press the button that says "Set up this player". At this point the light is flashing green on the player. On the Mac it says press and release the button as shown below, and listen for the chime. I do so and hear the chime. The light turns from a flashing green to a flashing orange. Then nothing happens. After a while the screen on the Mac says Not connected with an exclamation mark. And it just says "Your Sonos product was not found". I can either Try Again or do an Alternative set up. When doing the Alternative setup, the light is back to a flashing green. I plug it into the Ethernet port on the router. And from this point it's the same thing. I press the button an
Hi, I recently bought the LG OLED65C8PLA with an LG Magic remote (the magic remote where you have a direct "Netflix & Amazon" button). I've followed the steps in both "Configure Sonos home theater speakers with LG Magic Remote" as "Setting up a new TV or Cable remote with home theater speakers" When trying to configure magic remote with my Playbar using the above mentioned guidelines, I don't get the option to select the "Manufacturer" nor the "Remote Type". After selecting the option "Optical" i can only save, nothing more. Obviously I would like to have this working, so hope you can assist me. Thanks.
So I'm just about to set up my sonos1. Once I get to the wifi-set up it seems like the app can't find my network. I type in the name and click on next but it sends me back to the previous page.. Im using an iPhone6. Anyone knows what to do? And also when I first pluged in the power I got a white light, instead of the green, is this a problem?
I need to start over installing Sonos on Play:1s. The app has is stuck in a loop of wanting to register speakers and no allowing anything else. I have over $3000 invested in beautiful hardware ad $.10 software. The software is too restrictive in letting me have control in lots of things such as tone limitations. I did manage to create a new account by changing my email address and then starting over. Disconnected and reset all 10 Play:1s and Boost. The result after reinstalling the Boost is the same offending loop. I have been a Sonos sound user for 6 years. Today's software app is the worst yet. My disabled wife needs her music TODAY!! Sonos help is not available. Any good program should allow you to delete any associated account. Not Sonos. I used to write software myself. I have tried every trick myself to work around the problem. HELP.
Hi guys, Could do with your help making sense of some stuff if you're able to advise? Got a Playbar plugged into a Samsung TV, watching Blurays on a PS4. Got two Play:1s behind the sofa for a surround sound system. Most of the time, however, I'm seeing Stereo as the input type when checking the info in settings on the sonos app. I have the PS4 set to HDMI priority, with bit stream (dolby) set as the audio format, as with another article on here. I've tried optical straight from the PS4 to the sound bar, but it still comes up as stereo. I've tried the HDMI into the TV and the optical from TV to soundbar and it still says stereo. The TV only allows me to select PCM as the audio format out. Im still trying to get my head around the various audio formats, but is it possible to get 5.1 through PCM? If it is possible, does it come to as 5.1 in the sonos app, or will all PCM come up as stereo? I'm looking into possibly getting a splitter to bypass the TV for audio, if that'
"Go to accessory setup" button, in app, does not work when trying to configure Sonos Play:1 -- help??
I’ve been trying to set up my not-new Sonos Play:1 as a new system, as I have a new wifi network, and it seemed the easiest way to get the Sonos working again. I’ve followed instructions to configure it anew, so that it has the flashing green light, and the app on my iPhone has detected the Play:1, but it says I have to go through a wireless configuration process, which shows a single black button (and no other options) at the bottom of the screen -- “Go to accessory setup” -- but this button, when clicked, does nothing except grey out momentarily. It does not click through to anything, and it does not give an error message. Does anyone know how to fix this? Both the app and the phone OS are latest versions as of today (23 Nov 2020).Searching the internet for others with the same problem, I find only two instances. One has no solution, whereas the other says “fixed by connecting to ethernet cable.” What? Who in 2020 has an ethernet cable? I’ll need a different fix than that, if anyone
Hi All, I am building my man cave in the garden at the moment and will be installing a projector with SONOS 5.1 (possibly 7.1 setup), my question is should I run ethernet cables to all the speakers first? or just run them all from WiFi? I have not put the plasterboard on the walls yet so still have time to run the cables in the wall Is their an advantage with Ethernet over WiFi? Thanks in advance for your help Al
Hi, I have read many of the threads here but I am still not sure over what the advantages to using Sonosnet over my home WiFi are. Will it take some of the load off my home network? Also, I have 15ish speakers spread around my house. If I were to plug one in directly to Ethernet, my understanding is that it will create a mesh, but will it all be able to run off that one speaker? Should I use a boost instead? Thanks
Hi I have an older model playbase and everything was working just fine until our power went out for about 5 seconds and then came back on. The play base was not in use when this happened. I had to reset all my other Sonos speakers and that was no problem but this isn’t working with the play base. I’ve followed the directions for reset (several times) but the light only blinks white and never switches to white/orange or green. Any other ideas about getting this fixed? Thanks.
