Hi guys, Sorry this is going to be a bit of a negative rant. First things first: I own play:5, play:3s, a pile of play:1s, a PLAYBAR, and a SUB... So yeah I have the rainbow. While I can certainly appreciate the simplicity and idea behind the trueplay concept... I can't stand how it works with Sonos, and find it's a serious waste of resources as far as development. Here's my reasoning. 1) It doesn't work half of the time. Either the tuning fails, or when it does succeed, it sounds horrible. I can tune a speaker in the same environment 5 times, and each time the results are drastically different. It seems to be very hit and miss. I've done this with a handful of IOS/Android devices, and always the same thing. In the end I have to play with the EQ settings anyway just to bring things back to something normal. Most of the time I find myself resetting the sound entirely and just using the manual EQ, and most of the time I don't need to really touch it either. (I don't have liste
I have two Sonos sysems: one at my office and one at home. They are on completely different networks, and I would like to control each of the Sonos systems with the app on my phone. Unfortunately, if I connect to my office system, and then go home, the app can't find my home Sonos system unless I reset the controller. Similarly, if I then return to the office, I have to reset the controller to connect to my office system. The process of resetting the app is time-consuming. I have to wait for the app to unsuccessfully find the system. Then I can reset the controller. Then I can connect to the existing system. And finally, I have to page through a couple screens before I can actually connect. Is there any way to speed up the connection process when moving from one Sonos system to the other?
Have just purchased a Sonos Sound bar. We have Virgin Media Superhub,TIVO box and Panasonic Smart TV. Panasonic is connected to Superhub Router with ethernet cable to make 'smart' connection. Soundbar is connected to TV via digital line supplied. There are 2 spare ethernet ports in Soundbar, 1 in TV but none in Superhub. Do we have the correct wired set up?
In the process of a new construction and am looking into installing speakers throughout the house. In the main living area I'm looking into the playbar with two additional speakers in the rear installed within the ceiling to create a 5.1 system. In regards to the Sonos Sub, can it be installed within a wall off to the side and if so how will this affect the sound and its performance. Not a fan of the subwoofer sitting in a corner or in view and looking for other options. I know you can place it under a sofa but that isn't an option due to our current sofa design. Thanks.
I am trying to reinstall my Play 1s after a gap of about a year - I have good WiFi - I have updated the Mac app to 6.0 and updated the Play1 (I think). On power up, I get a flashing white light for the best part of a minute, then a steady white for about 20 seconds then no light at all. Re-booting simply takes me through the same procedure. My Play 1 seems to have a serial number of: 1311-00-0E-58-CD-D3-76-A My mac is running the current OS satisfactorily, I have plenty of RAM etc. Suggestions?
There was a thread on this a few days ago and now it's gone... Something Sonos doesn't want discussed? It would be great if Sonos came out with an AppleTv app for the 4th generation AppleTv. Really seems like a no brainer. The most important feature would be the ability to select the system the Apple TV is connect to as an output source. That way you can play your Sonos content through your tv (or whatever stereo is connected to it). My guess is the only reason Sonos wouldn't do it would be for political reasons like not wanting to possibly hurt Play Bar sales. But hopefully Sonos isn't that company.
Hello Everyone. I have a 55" Sony 55"w950b Yamaha YSP-1000 sound projector Tivo Roamio Ps3 I have audio and video for tivo connected to TV via hdmi and using the optical out from TV to go to my sound projector. For the Ps3 I have HDMI to TV and optical to the sound projector Now what I want to do is listen to my TV from my 3 Sonos Play: Ones around the house. I was just gifted a Sonos Connect. But noticed that it does not have a digital input and my Roamio do not have any analog outputs. How would I go about getting this to work?
Setup the playbar easily. The sub says it needs an update, press update and it says the controller app needs updating with a link to the sonos site which in turn says check your email. Nothing gets emailed. I've manually downloaded the beta app apk but still saying it needs an update. Can anyone help? Not an impressive start bearing in mind the alleged easy installation reviews and ethos.
Hi; "I'm new around here can you show me round?" We are seriously considering buying a play 5 gen 1. We have chosen the play 5 as our first Sonos appliance because we felt that this would be a good place to start our collection as it seemed to tick most boxes but we really need to know some facts; Will we have the ability to build as we go along? Is it compatible with gen 2 add ons like playbar - play 1 & 3's- subwoofers etc... Plus future upgrades? Will it also be synced with Trueplay? Please help. Thanks in advance Dawn
Hi all - non-techie here! I know Devolo aren't supported, but believe some folk here have Sonos working with Devolo homeplugs, so wonder if the Community can help. At the moment I have a single Sonos Play:1 but plan to extend to multiple Sonos products in multiple rooms with zoning. My wireless set up is this: BT Homehub 3 with wifi switched off. Devolo Dlan Wifi 500s in 4 rooms A single SSID for all the Devolos so I can roam throughout the house. I have set up my Play:1 in one room. It is connected to the Devolo and the App works fine with it in that room. However, when I move through the house, then I lose connection to the Controller on my devices. I'm guessing that the the Controller is picking up the signals from the different Devolos. question; how can I set up the Devolos so that the Controller can roam for the single Play:1 today, and for the future state where there will be multiple Sonos in multiple rooms? Thanks in advance, RDM
Why do I feel that with Sonos I am in prison? 1) I cant play (yet) Apple Music 2) Cant play Spotify free (strange it only allows premium) 3) Cant play Deezer free (same) 4) Cant play from youtube 5) cant link with TV (or maybe I simply dont understand how?) 6) Cant play without using Sonos app Why? I dont see a future for products that limits the user.... Just bought Boze Mini II gekocht and feel I am out of the prison. It plays everything. Simple, with button. No limitations at all.
Good morning- I have a 2014 MBP. I'm using a Bridge to set up Sonos. I can connect to my Sonos system using my iOS apps and control it that way, but I can't get the desktop controller to connect to the existing Sonos system. I've tried powering on and off the bridge, setting up as new system, but the desktop controller won't connect to the Sonos system. I can connect and control things from my iPhone and iPad, just not my desktop (when I'm working). I've also tried resetting the controller. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
So I bought a Sonos about a year and a half ago. I had a lot of issues getting it working and gave up. I'm now trying to get it working again but the same issues appear to be still here. The main one I have is that the sonos system won't reconnect to a SMB share on my Synology diskstation even though the NAS is awake and running. I can add the share, index it and play music. If I don't play any music for a few days then the next time I startup the sonos I can see my music library but when I try to play any tracks I get a connection error. The only way to get the music library up and running again is to delete the share and recreate it. I have no problems accessing the share from a windows box. Any chance Sonos will implement NFS?
Hello, I would like to use my MacBookPro (OS X Yosemite) and one Sonos Play1 "outdoor" together at a party without any WIFI and without Internet-access. Is it possible to connect the Play1 directly via ethernet-cable to the MacBookPro? I want to play the music stored on the laptop using the Play1. Thank you in advance for your help (and sorry for my poor english)! Michael
I have had this Dock stored unused as I really didn't have a need for it years ago when I received it as a gift. Presently at home I am enjoying a setup with one PLAY:3 and a BRIDGE hooked on to my router. Now, I want to use this Sonos Dock at my summer home where there is no wifi broadband internet connection. At my (Philippine) Summer house, I use a Huawei Pocket WiFi to get to the internet. I am not sure if the Sonos Dock and a PLAY:1 will be able to function and stream internet music or play my iPhone Playlist. If needed I will also bring one Sonos BRIDGE to support the PLAY:1 and the Dock. Can anybody please post a link that gives the full instructions on WHAT this Dock is good for and HOW to use it? I would appreciate hearing from anyone. Thanks. Okgolti
Hi, i have a Samsung 8090 75" TV connected to a Bose Lifestyle V35. I play Music Videos on my Samsung and the sound signal goes to the Bose System. works very nice, i am happy. Now i want to have the same music in my kitchen and on balcony. I bought now a SONOS Connect and a Play5. If i connect the SONOS:Connect with the headphone output i can hear the sound at my play5 (so i think the play5 and sonos:connect is configured right). But if i connect it that way the music stops playing from the bose speaker. How do i connect the Connect with my Bose System so i can listen to the bose speakers and to the Play5. I also want to buy 2-3 more SonosPlay1 for the bathroom etc. but i have to check that in first place.
Hi All, I`m planning to install several Sonos Play 5 in my living room. Most will be wall mounted with the Flexson mount. But I have one corner where two sliding glas doors come together and I don`t have space for the wall mount, so I need a ceiling mount. Google did not give me any options at all. Do you guys know if and where I can get a ceiling mount? Thanks!
Hello! I'm about to buy a load of Sonos gear to replace my current wired stereo & speakers set up. I will be controlling the Sonos kit with my iPad and MacBook Pro, using the Sonos App to work in conjunction with my Spotify and iTunes accounts. So far so good. I need some help please, with what best Sonos components to buy for my set up. I'll be playing music in my lounge and kitchen. Also I want to play TV sound in the lounge. LOUNGE: (16ft x 14ft) I'm currently using two Denon bookcase speakers which are great but are to be replaced with Sonos gear. I've already decided to buy the Playbar which will sit under my HD TV in the lounge. Important: On the other side of the lounge is my wireless router. Q1: Will the Playbar be all I need for great music in the lounge or should I buy one Play5 or one Play3 to complient it? Or for better stereo sound should I get two Play5's or two Play3's to compliment it? Q2: I'm not too bothered about surround sound but as my router is on the oth
Hi, i just moved into a new apartment that is equipped with "Sonos Wireless HiFi system with built in speakers in living room" exact wording from my apartment's amenity. now, I noticed a rather wierd looking outlet, which I believe is used for Sonos. [click in "location" to see the link to how it looks like, i uploaded on tinypic, i cannot have links in a post before my post count reaches 3: forum rule] now, there is no manual on how to connect, and my apartment maintenance people have no idea either because the apartment is so new, i dont think anyone has tried this before... can anyone tell me exactly what I need to do to connect? I downloaded sonos app, but no matter what I try, it cannot find the system. Thanks in advance!
A new company, Eero, is planning to introduce a new Wifi router that will supposedly make our wifi experience much easier, and do so with an attractive box. Wondering if the Sonos engineers have any insight into this forthcoming solution, any perceived compatibility issues, etc. The article I read on The Verge described a wifi mesh network that sounds a lot like what Sonos has, and like Sonos it is a pricey investment. So before I add my name to the pre-order list I am hoping to determine that my investment won't be in vain. Thanks in advance for any insights anyone can provide.
I am looking for a way to delete the currently playing song from the playlist (or from "my library"). My way of managing my music in itunes and other players has always been to add songs to playlists freely and in bulk (e.g., a full album at a time) and then to delete songs I don't like from the playlist, while they are on. To do that, I need to be able to quickly delete the song that is currently playing from the list. This does not seem to work with Sonos. The only option I found is to open the playlist, chose "edit playlist", find the song amonst hundreds of other songs in the playlist manually, and then delete the track. This takes too much time to be practicable. It doesn't work for me. I am actually looking for the option "delete" in a context menu at the currently playing song. I assume they have difficulties in providing such simple functionality, because Sonos seems to play a copy of the playlist (i.e., the "Queue"), not the playlist itself. Has anyone fig
Hi everyone, I currently have 2 Play:1's as a stereo pair which sound awesome! For xmas I'm treating myself to the playbar! Couple of questions.. For music what can of sound quality will I get? (i.e, will be sound basey like the Play:5 yet sound fuller and fill the room more like Play:1s paired?) Last thing, I have an optical out on my Samsung TV (UE42F5000) Will this output a 5.1 channel if I wanted to hook up my Play:1s as surround? I'm reading reports that for DTV stations that broadcast it and programs that have it, it will send out the 5.1 channel but it will not if you have say a PS3 hooked up via HDMI and in that case will only output in Stereo... Many thanks Jordan
The order in which you replace your wired Bridge with your new Boost is really important. To avoid wiping out all of the work you've done to make your Sonos system uniquely yours, perform the steps below. BTW, the same process works if you're replacing your wired Bridge with another wired Bridge. Some users will end up physically swapping their Bridge out with the Boost in the wrong order, then erroneously setting up their Sonos system once again from scratch - thinking that's what they're supposed to do, performing button presses on their speakers, adding room names back - unaware of the ramifications. Don't do it that way or you'll lose all of your personalized Sonos settings. Gone will be your favorite radio stations, you'll have to add you music subscription information back in from scratch, you'll even have to set up your music library again. In order to maintain your existing room names, music subscriptions, custom radio stations and Sonos favorites, do this: 1) [B]Do Not[/B
