Hi there, we have taken over 3 devices by Sonos and after factory resetting all 3 I'm only able to connect the Play:3 and play music on it. If I try to add either of the two Play:1s it gives me a red light when I have to press Play+VolumeUp buttons and the setup just loops around that. The setup finds both devices correctly (identified by MAC ID) but doesn't connect to them somehow. Any advice? Tried both with and without an ethernet cable.
I've had my Sonos system (Playbar, Sub, 2 Play1's + 2 more Play1's) for about 1 1/2 yrs now. I originally connected the Playbar via network calbe as that was the recommended setup at the time. Wireless setup has since been added via updates obviously. I want to go wireless as I could use that network cable for something else in the vicinity. Any down side to this? I have an unused Sonos boost if that helps in any way. thanks.
Controlling the Sonos system from iDevices (Phones) via the Sonos app works but is slow, I have to wait for a couple of seconds before the chosen number kicks-in. I have multiple wired good quality APs in the house but they are all wired to an ordinary 5 port wireless 802.11n router (some Chinese brand) supplied by the ISP. I am wondering whether Sonos users here started off like this and eventually managed to improve their response times by implementing a proper network switch. I realise that the problem may not be because the router is slow, it could be arising from the fact that the router is not managing the network like a proper switch would. Will a gigabit switch made by a reputable company such as Cisco, Netgear or hp improve the response times ? The router could be plugged into the gigabit switch and I suppose this would secure my NAS drive which is probably accessible by the ISP.
Hi there, I have recently moved to university but have not had any success at connecting my Sonos system. I have a Sonos play 1, as well as a sonos bridge. I get to the point where I connect with the temporary 'SONOS' wifi, but the network does not come up and I cannot connect to it. Also, when I try to connect my bridge, it only comes up with the option to connect the 'Boost' which I do not have. I have disconnected my system several times but cannot seem to find a solution. It's unusual as I have never had this problem before and I have had my Sonos system at several locations. If there is any way that this problem can be resolved, it would be much appreciated. Thanks Joshua
If it is possible, it we be a great upgrade to use the software that already controlling the sonos to distribute itself music as a speaker. So if i chose to listen spotiy, tv, , stingray or what ever source i like, to be streaming synchro to the mobile app i had to my home. in other word, i like that the app itself could be program to diffuse sound has any speaker in my system and i could attach to any room to. i hope that feature will be seen by other to be a great compagnon to the system Serge
I would like to configure my Sonos system so that all the music is on a NAS drive and all the iDevices (phones and tablets) behave like remote control units via the Sonos app. In other words, I do not want any music streaming directly from iDevices or any other devices (Computers) as that effects the overall WiFi bandwidth. I prefer to copy individual music files rather than playlists from ITunes. I know I can do that using the Sonos app for Mac but I am wondering if I can manually categories all my music on the NAS. Let me clarify.......... On the NAS drive, I would like to create a "Music" folder. Inside of that Music Folder, I would create category folders e.g. "Pop", "Rock", "R&B", "Instrumental", "English Hits", "Vocals" etc. Once I have done that, I probably have to choose to rebuild the index so that all Sonos remote iDevices are updated. However, once the indexing is done, I want all my music to appear on the iDevices as per my categorisation on the NAS. So on my iPhone i
I have a Play 1 that is wired by ethernet cable to my router. I am getting a Soundbar and will be moving the Play 1. The Soundbar will become the only Sonos component hard wired to the router. Do I just add the Soundbar, wired to the router, to Sonosnet and then take the ethernet cable out of the Play 1? I don't want to confuse the system!
My current Sonos system is comprised of (2) play5 (1) play3 and (1) sub. that system has worked very well for a couple of years. I am trying to connect my high-end stereo system to the sonos system so that the audio system i have will play the same stuff as the sonos speakers. So....I purchased the CONNECT and went through all the motions. no dice. what i realized is that it seems to be competing with the other Sonos devices on my network. IF i unplug ALL other sonos devices and just set up the connect to my stereo system it works well but only through my stereo - as soon as i try to add a Play5 or anyother sonos device it goes back to ignoring the Connect and i am right back where i started. please tell me what i am doing wrong. is this even achievable? getting frustrated over here! lol thanks in advance!
Hi, I have a strange situation. Just bought a Sonos Playbar, Sub and 2 Play 1's (5.1 set up). Have a Samsung 4k Smart TV (and I luckily have no issues passing a DD signal and everything for the most part is working great. Using the Samsung Smart TV Internet services, I have no issues with Amazon, Netflix, VUDU, MLBTV. Etc. However, when I use STARZ Play in the same service, I get no audio whatsoever through the Sonos playbar or surrounds. If I switch back to the regular TV speakers, the audio does still work (and it worked with my older stereo with DD). Does not work with PCM audio either in the Playbar. Any idea why 1 service out of many would not get any audio while using the Playbar? I am really puzzled on this one. Thanks.
Hi there, I'm looking to set Sonos up in my house in Italy. The house is currently under massive refurbishment and I want to sort out the socket locations for Sonos, and generally get the gist of what components would be best. I'm looking to have Zones: Kitchen, Lounge, Outside Upper Terrace, Outside Lower Terrace/Pool and another 2 zones which I will move around the other rooms when needed. The kitchen is roughly 10mx5m, Lounge 5mx5m and the outside areas are quite large. I basically want to know which speakers would be best (and not overkill) for a good blast. There would be 2x speakers in Kitchen either floor mounted or wall mounted, 2 (or sound bar?) for lounge, and 2 on each terrace and 2 to move around the other rooms. If anyone could advise on: 1) What speakers to get, 2) Would I need some sort of booster to get the signal down to the lower terrace 3) Any other kit that I need to have it working seamlessly. 4) Are the speakers suitable for outside use? As
I have a Playbar and a Connect:Amp. These systems have been working, and were setup with surround in my living room. Problem: I just got a new SONOS:Connect. My SONOS app discovered the Sonos:Connect. I then went through setup on my iPhone, and when I was done my existing system doesn't work. In fact, I don't even see my existing system anymore. The Connect works fine, but now I've lost my existing setup that includes the Playbar and Connect:Amp. The Sonos install also removed my stations, and I had to add them back in. What have I missed here? How do I get back my existing system? Thanks in advance from Hurricane, UT.
My TV does not have toslink nor outputs, only HDMI and inputs. I used to have the AppleTV (3rdGen) connected to my PlayBar through toslink, and my AppleTV connected to my TV through HDMI, and everything worked great. I just recently purchased the AppleTV(4thGen), however it does not have a Toslink, so now I could not connect my Sonos to the system. Therefore, I purched the SonoConect to see if I could get creative and find a way to connect everything....... but I cant find a way. Please help!
After turning off my tv speaker during the Sonos setup, I get this stupid message basically telling me that the TV speaker is deactivated. "The TV speakers have been turned off..." etc. Takes up about half the screen too. How can I turn this off? TV model: 55PFL5706/F7
Hello folks, I don't actually have a problem that needs solving at the moments, and I'd like to try to keep it that way. I am more or less by accident about to become a Sonos user and while I think I have a handle on what I'm doing, the more I read, the more I wonder... I recently upgraded my wireless router (to a Fritz!box 7490), and discovered shortly thereafter that my trusty old internet radio no longer worked. The issue is one of supported wifi encryption standards and is unsolvable. So, I've been shopping for a replacement internet radio, and on a whim looked through the catalogue for my credit card's rewards program. They had, and I have ordered (but not yet received) a Play:1 intended to be used as a stand alone device in the family room connected to either a switch or my router both of which are close by. It would be easiest to plug it into a spare 100 meg port on the switch, but would there be any advantage in shuffling things around so I could plug it int
