G'day This is my first post on the Sonos forum.... Have had my Sonos system up and running perfect at home for about a year now (Sonos Bridge + Sonos5 + Sonos Play1) and have been loving every note of music form this fantastic system. Thing is, a friend of mine has asked me to bring it to his 49th birthday party tonight. (he also loves the system and is considering getting a Sonos system for his place) . To set it up at his place, I will have to take the components from my place, to his place, and then instal it on his wifi network. So I guess I'm asking is it safe to just disconnect/unplug the Sonos Bridge from my Windows 7 desktop computer then simply instal it on his wifi network as a normal new setup? System will be controlled using the Sonos Controller App on my iPhone5. I will of course also have to connect my phone to his wifi network. This will only be a 1 night setup at his place then it will need to be reinstalled back on my own home wifi network the next day. Besid
I have a Samsung Blue-ray DVD player model BD P1590. I have it hooked up to my TV and Sonos Playbar via an HDMI switch and digital optical audio cable. The audio cable is connected from the HDMI switch straight into the Playbar. When I watch TV, all audio is fine. I even get audio fine using the Netflix interface provided through the Samsung DVD player. However, when I watch a Blue-ray DVD, the dialogue does not come through. All other audio features work fine. I can hear other sounds in the movie, like a car driving, etc. I just can't hear any dialogue between people. I've called Samsung and we've confirmed all settings with the DVD player are correct. They suggested it might be a Sonos set-up issue. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
Hi When I first got my Sonos system a couple of years ago, I managed to set up two Sonos accounts. The one that is working just fine has an email address that needs changing, but it needs changing to the address of the other account. How would I delete one account and change the email address on the other
Just got a Sonos Playbar as a gift. I set it up. My TV does not allow me to turn off the TV speakers, so I had to use the "turn the volume down to zero" option. I have a TiVo (through RCN service in NYC). I went through the instructions on connecting a TiVo remote to the Playbar using the "Denon" brand. None of the codes seem to work, and thus, I cannot use the TiVo remote for the Playbar. Relying on smartphone/desktop apps to control the volume is NOT acceptable long term. Anyone know any tricks to connecting the TiVo remote to the Playbar?
I set up my Play: 3 over the weekend (I also have a Bridge) and tossed about 2 gigs of music on a flash drive in my router to use as a NAS device. I have a 128gb flash drive coming from Amazon, but in my free time between calls at work I'm checking and correcting tags and adding covers to my 90ish gigs of MP3s (former record store employee here, all obtained legally). My question is in the title: does Sonos ignore the word "the" in the artist field and alphabetize the band under the first letter of the second word? Or will they all end up filed under "T"? I'd much rather my music be listed as "The Beatles" and filed under B, but if that's not how it works then I know to correct it before I copy them to the flash drive and have to index the Sonos system twice...
Hi all. I've been loving & growing my SONOS system since 2006 however I've recently been hit with a problem that's driving me insane. I've been running a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ since I setup the first ZonePlayer all those years ago. It was a bulletproof combo and the SONOS happily connected to the share containing all my FLACs and just worked. I recently upgraded the ReadyNAS to a HP N54L Microserver running FreeNAS and now SONOS isn't happy :( I setup the new FreeNAS volumes, datasets & shares to reflect those on the old ReadyNAS along with fully unrestricted access to everyone. I then transferred all the data across and that was basically it, the new NAS was ready to go. I pointed SONOS to the share containing my FLACs and bingo everything worked fine but a day later it refused to play tracks from the library on the new NAS. I've tried so many things over the last month but I'm now getting really frustrated and need help with this issue. The annoying part is that all oth
So I got a Playbar for Xmas. My setup is 3-4 HDMI inputs into a pioneer receiver with 1 HDMI out to the TV which has no optical out. Obviously that's a problem. After attempting to get the optical on the receiver to work and failing I have optical running out of the back of the DirecTV Box. That won't work over the long run. I bought product ID 10251on mono price. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to have fixed the problem for whatever reason. If you've used this before and it has worked I'd like to know how you got it to work or that it does work the way I'd expect so I can continue to diagnose the problem as my receiver and not the Sonos or the mono price adapter. Ok so now I'm considering another option but I don't want to get something and have it not work. I'm considering getting rid of the receiver entirely (its 5 years old) and getting a 4x1 HDMI switch with optical out. Will that work and is there one that someone can confirm will in fact work with the Playbar? T
I thought that the SonosNet acted independently of my wifi network, but each of my 2 zone players show up on my wifi network's list of devices as having an IP address given out by my router's DHCP. I have a bridge connected directly to my Linksys router, and 2 zone players connected wirelessly in other rooms (a Play1 and a Play5). I have MAC filtering turned on, and I am running out of room for my number of allowed devices. I would like to remove my zone players, but it seems they are required to /also/ be connected to the wifi network in addition to the SonosNet.... unless I'm missing something?
Hello All, Am trying to get my Sonos system to play music from a new WD MyCloud Nas. The Sonos system works perfectly with my existing Buffalo Link Station but I cannot seem to get it to play from the WD MyCloud Nas. I have added the share for the Mycloud to the Sonos system and it then indexes the music but when completed and I attempt to view the folder get the message no selections available. I suspect that the naming of the folder could be the problem so have tried using the IP address instead but could not get Sonos to accept that either. I have reviewed the settings for the Mycloud and all to me seem to be okay i.e. streaming set to on etc so am at a loss with this one. System works perfectly in all other areas so am sure it is down to the Nas share naming or Nas setup. If anyone can help would greatly appreciate. I have searched the forum and read connected posts but have not found anything that helps me here. Best Regards Keith
Hi. Actually I am the seller, and someone has bought my Sonos Connect. Don't worry, I'm keeping the Play:5 and PlayBar! He's asked a good question. The device is registered to my account. How does he take this over, or how do I remove the device from my list of products so he can register it as his own?
So it seems I can't get 5.1 from Chromecast Netflix app because, like Roku, it uses Dolby Digital Plus which the PLAYBAR doesn't support. To summarize what Netflix devices can pass 5.1 to the PLAYBAR: Roku- nope Apple TV - yes Netflix built-in to TV - depends on TV Chromecast - nope Not related to Netflix, but I have another strange issue as well. If I plug the optical out from my Blu-Ray player directly into PLAYBAR and play a BD movie with TrueHD soundtrack, the Sonos shows 5.1. If I connect the BD player via HDMI to TV, then TV optical to PB, I only get 2.0 even though the TV can definitely pass 5.1 from external outputs - it works with AppleTV Netflix. So is there some kind of copy protection thing going on here, either at the BD or TV level? My head is spinning trying to figure out what will and won't work.
I'm using my play bar with lg smart tv and Harmony Remote. It works ok but i wanted to switch to original remote from LG = Magic Remote. Playbar won't recognize this remote if i klick on volume up button as requested. As far i can remember, first time i bought play bar it worked very well with lg magic remote. The strange thing is that if i push power off button on magic remote play bar recognize this. Has someone have some solution? Thanks
Hi all, Is there any way to manage the volume on each zone independently when Grouped? I would like to be able to hear the same music in the whole house on parties but a good volume level in the living room is a way too loud level in the bedrooms... Thanks!
I'm sure this is obvious but I can't find it. When I set up a music queue, and then switch to another source, say a radio station to listen to the news, how do I switch back to play the queue? The controller (mac) says that the "queue is not in use" -- how do I put it back in use without emptying it, reloading it and then telling it to play now? Thanks for your help - I'm stumped.
I know it's probably been said before but has anyone got any work arounds to access new music on Sonos? I thought i'd add a folder to my music library called "New Music" then add shortcuts to new albums but Sonos doesn't seem to show this folder when going to Music > Folders > Network Drive > .......... Any idea why?
