Have just installed a 2Tb WD My Cloud. Have placed a few mp3 files to the Music folder. My Sonos app does not 'see' the folder (or anything on the device). I have a shared folder on a Windows 10 machine which Sonos CAN 'see'. Obviously I have overlooked something, but what? Any help would be apprecitated.
Hello All, Am trying to get my Sonos system to play music from a new WD MyCloud Nas. The Sonos system works perfectly with my existing Buffalo Link Station but I cannot seem to get it to play from the WD MyCloud Nas. I have added the share for the Mycloud to the Sonos system and it then indexes the music but when completed and I attempt to view the folder get the message no selections available. I suspect that the naming of the folder could be the problem so have tried using the IP address instead but could not get Sonos to accept that either. I have reviewed the settings for the Mycloud and all to me seem to be okay i.e. streaming set to on etc so am at a loss with this one. System works perfectly in all other areas so am sure it is down to the Nas share naming or Nas setup. If anyone can help would greatly appreciate. I have searched the forum and read connected posts but have not found anything that helps me here. Best Regards Keith
Hi, I’m currently living in a houseshare. I have a Sonos one and my housemate has also bought a one. We’re having an issue with two Sonos accounts on one WiFi network. My app has automatically signed into his account and it’s trying to add my speaker to his account. Is it possible to have two separate Sonos accounts on the same network?
I have just purchased the Sonos one and am extremely impressed with both the quality of the speakers and the Alexa voice control. Please can someone clarify if when setting up a second phone to control music, that the same login details should be used for both the Sonos app and the Alexa app. Thanks in advance.
My nephew has received a Sonos 1 for Christmas – and lives in Halls at Uni. His room has both wifi and an Ethernet port – but the ethernet needs logon details to authenticate. That means Sonos can’t connect to the Ethernet. He has an iDevice. He has installed the App and opened up Sonos but is just says “You’re on the XXXX Wireless network but Sonos isn’t.” He has tried to just connect wirelessly but Sonos insists on initially connecting via Ethernet. That’s not an option with the hardware available. Do ‘we’ know the technical reason Sonos can’t just be added to an existing WiFi network? Is the only ‘simple’ solution purchasing some sort of travel router that allows an Ethernet connection from its wifi connection? I assume you basically go through a setup screen on them where you input the wifi details that you wish Sonos could accept? After connecting, can the Sonos then be disconnected from the Ethernet and connected to the wifi as is required? Is seems a shame to have t
Hey, I’m wondering if someone can tell if this is possible... I would like to buy a Sonos Move and pair it with my current Sonos One so that when the Move is docked, they are in a stereo grouping. As soon as the Move is undocked, I would like both speakers to automatically switch to mono (but still playing same music). Once redocked, both speakers should resume their stereo pairing. Is this possible? Thanks
I had a Player, Sub and 2 Play 1's set up in my old lounge - the room has now be extend to double the original size. I am thinking of getting 2 more Play 1's The room is approx 8m x 8m with 500mm columns and beam where the old wall was taken out. I had in mind that we would get 2 more Play 1's to go on the corners of the new rear wall, and keep the original speakers set up where they were for the TV sound (separate zone) So when we played music/parties etc and we utilise the whole room we have good coverage (4 x play 1's) in the whole space. Can you put the sub, player and 4 x Play 1's on one set up? Or do we need to do the play bar, sub and 2 x Play1's for TV and then regroup 4 x Play 1's for parties/music? Any help greatly appreciated
Hi All, I'm new to Sonos. I never use the TV directly, hence I don't rely on the TV sound output. I would only use it through PS4 (watching Amazon Prime, play Bluray, streaming movies though Media Player) Now the simple question is, can I connect the optical cable of PS4 to Sonos PlayBar and set the format to Dolby Digital 5.1 and expect it to work? Many Thanks, H
G'day This is my first post on the Sonos forum.... Have had my Sonos system up and running perfect at home for about a year now (Sonos Bridge + Sonos5 + Sonos Play1) and have been loving every note of music form this fantastic system. Thing is, a friend of mine has asked me to bring it to his 49th birthday party tonight. (he also loves the system and is considering getting a Sonos system for his place) . To set it up at his place, I will have to take the components from my place, to his place, and then instal it on his wifi network. So I guess I'm asking is it safe to just disconnect/unplug the Sonos Bridge from my Windows 7 desktop computer then simply instal it on his wifi network as a normal new setup? System will be controlled using the Sonos Controller App on my iPhone5. I will of course also have to connect my phone to his wifi network. This will only be a 1 night setup at his place then it will need to be reinstalled back on my own home wifi network the next day. Besid
Apologies for what must seem a basic question. When I got my first Sonos Play 1 speaker it came packaged with a free Bridge. Performance was erratic so Sonos support suggested a Boost and they also remotely tweaked the system to remedy conflicts with my wifi signal - since then no issues. My daughter in law wants a speaker so I'm going to loan her my Play 1 pair and/or Play 3 so she can trial to see what type suits her better. Sonos tell me that a Bridge is no longer needed to setup any speaker system, and perhaps a Boost may not be needed. That's what confuses me - how is the setup approached without either of these ?
I am told by Sonos live chat that I cannot use Sonos play 1s without an internet connection, but I keep seeing in forums that you can make a wifi network from a router without internet and play the speakers. So can I or cant I use them without internet? Any help would be appreciated.
I took delivery of the new BT Smart Hub today (ie the next one after the BT HH 5 - so effectively a HH6) - all good. I have separated the channels so that I have a 2.5ghz and a 5ghz network. I have followed the steps to put the Play 1 on the 2.5ghz network - but it keeps telling me to use 'use a 2.5ghz router' (or words to that effect) even though I am trying to connect to the 2.5ghz network. I know this is new hardware - but if anyone else has managed to get this to work please let me know. SONOS: can you get a BT Smart Hub for testing? Regards Steve
Hello - I'm based in the UK and I've been having problems with setting up sonos. I have submitted a query online and have been told to phone customer support. I have tried calling 01803 447000 which is the only number I can find on the website but get an automated message saying this is not assigned to any company or individual. Can anyone supply a number in the UK where I can get technical support? Many thanks!
Hi, I just got a Sonos Move and it works fine over wifi and bluetooth when connected to my phone. I'm hoping to play the TV sound from the speaker and connected it to my Samsung TV via Bluetooth. The TV shows the connection, it is set up as the output source, but no sound comes out. Any suggestions?
I'm new to vinyl and just picked up a U-Turn Orbit Plus turntable with a set of analog Audioengine A5+ speakers. I also have a Sonos setup for my TV that includes two Play 1's, a sub, and a soundbar. I debated long and hard over whether to buy the Sonos Connect to integrate the turntable into my existing setup or to go with separate analog speakers in order to maintain that true analog experience. Obviously, the analog setup won out since I picked up the Audioengines. However, I have been disappointed in this setup because I am getting a terrible buzzing from the speakers that I can't seem to resolve. I have worked with U-Turn support and we've been unable to come to a resolution. I'm guessing it's some sort of grounding related issue at this point. I have debated on whether to return the turntable and try a more expensive brand/model with better grounding and a better tonearm such as the Rega Planar 2, but I really do like the Orbit and I'd prefer to hang onto it if I can eliminate th
Hi I have a sonos Arc and 2 Sonos one SL as surrounds The app says its playing stereo pcm and in the settings that the arc is receiving stereo 2.0 However, I'm running a brand new 55 inch LG oled TV and the arc is connected via a eARC hdmi cable. The app shows that the audio is set to surround and the rear speakers are working. But when I stream dolby atmos from Disney plus the app still says its receiving stereo So ... I have connected it properly, I'm streaming dolby atmos, the TV is running the audio out correctly to the arc sound bar, the rear speakers are connected correctly, the app shows the sound mode is set to surround, but on the about my system and the player on the app it says clearly its running stereo pcm… How do I get this set up to run atmos?!?!
I have looked around but can't seem to find a way to set up a Sonos 5.1 system (playbase, Bass, and two Play 1's) through my AV receiver. I see them up through a TV but not through a receiver. Is it possible to use Sonos speakers similar to the way you would use wired speakers? Be gentle and use simple terms...I am not a technical person. Thanks in advance.
