So despite reservations I finally replaced my “legacy” Connect with a Port, which I was told would be a drop-in replacement and allow me to use S2.But at the moment the only way I can get my Sonos network to function is with the Port directly connected by ethernet, and from the network matrix (at http://#.#.#.#:1400/support/review) I can see that it is the Root Bridge. But in fact although it is connected “directly”, it is only connected into a port of a WiFi extender (one of the mesh WiFi hubs), so it’s not direct to the router. It is far far away from the router. So it’s really not the ideal location for the root.I want my original speaker (Play 1) as the root like it was before… it is close to the router and is directly connected by actual ethernet cable all the way.I tried my old trick of changing the root by using http://#.#.#.#:1400/advconfig.htm (and setting FirstZP to enabled/disabled on the relevant speakers, then turning off/on) but this doesn’t seem to be having any effect…
Greeting and apologize for what is likely a repeat question. We have 4 Sonos Play:1's, a Sonos Connect and 2 Sonos Bridges...Bridges....not Boosts....all of varying ages. We've had frequent app connectivity issue across all our platforms....iphones...android phones.....and PC...all experience the same 'disappearing act' from time to time. I've had several hours-long sessions with Sonos Support to try to get our Sonos environment stabilized without much success. It will be stable for a short period of time, a week or so, then go back to being intermittently unstable where we lose components in the apps. Currently, we have all 4 Play:1's and the Sonos Connect all connected via WiFi to 4 Google Mesh router pucks and the connectivity issues take place daily. None of the Sonos components are directly connected to any of the Google WiFi pucks. The two Sonos Bridges are disconnected and not powered on and just sitting on a shelf, per the last recommendation of the Sonos Support
My first option is "Connect to existing system" which I do not have. Second option is "Learn how to set up a new system." When I click on that it just brings to this site which tells me to select "Set up a new Sonos system". I am not given the option.
Looking to buy a whole home Mesh Wi-Fi system and when doing some research I saw some feedback on an Amazon review that the product chosen had adversely affected their Sonos in some way. So the question is, does anyone have any horror stories about any Mesh Wi-Fi products and Sonos?
Hi guys, Sorry this is going to be a bit of a negative rant. First things first: I own play:5, play:3s, a pile of play:1s, a PLAYBAR, and a SUB... So yeah I have the rainbow. While I can certainly appreciate the simplicity and idea behind the trueplay concept... I can't stand how it works with Sonos, and find it's a serious waste of resources as far as development. Here's my reasoning. 1) It doesn't work half of the time. Either the tuning fails, or when it does succeed, it sounds horrible. I can tune a speaker in the same environment 5 times, and each time the results are drastically different. It seems to be very hit and miss. I've done this with a handful of IOS/Android devices, and always the same thing. In the end I have to play with the EQ settings anyway just to bring things back to something normal. Most of the time I find myself resetting the sound entirely and just using the manual EQ, and most of the time I don't need to really touch it either. (I don't have liste
It's a mystery. I bought my first Sonos and followed the setup instructions. At no point did I provide my wifi password or even tell it the SSID of my wifi, but the Sonos joined my network and was visible from the controller. How is this possible? How can it work out how to join a network it hasn't been told about with a password it doesn't know? I want to understand if there is a special trick to do it, or is there a giant weakness in wifi security?
I have an S1 system, just updated to 11.2. I want to update one speaker only (a Move) to S2 for testing purposes, while leaving all other speakers on S1 without reconfiguring them. I have installed both the S1 and S2 iOS apps. I assumed this would be simple (via the S2 app), but I’m not seeing an obvious way to proceed. Could someone tell me what the steps are, please? Thanks.
Hi everyone, I thought it would be best to start a single thread to bring together all tips and tricks for using Sonos systems in India. I recently got myself a pair of Sonos Ones and have been reading this forum with much interest and apprehension before they arrived. Having set up my speakers, I thought I'd share my own tips and tricks in getting the most out of Sonos systems in India. Tip 1: Change your location in the Sonos system to a country with better support Why: Get access to Alexa, Spotify and other music/podcast services not officially launched in India DETAILS: go to your profile on Sonos.com and change your country to the US or Singapore or another supported country. NO other address details are required. Save the updated settings on the website. After that open the Sonos app and try and add Alexa, Spotify, etc. They should all show up like magic (may take a few minutes to show up in the app after the update on the website). The good thing
Im back to where i started a couple of days ago after getting lucky with setting up my first Play:1 after 4hours of struggling with it both wireless and wired. Today I got myself into another hot soup. No matter how i try, i can't seem to set up my 2nd speaker.... (going mad) I open up the sonos app on iPad, its connected to my sonos network, add player. Detects the Play:1's serial, press play/pause + Vol, chime and its orange led blinking and nothing happens from there. Been repeating this process right in front of the router AC88U, wired, wireless, still will not connect. the speaker will eventually default back to green blinking led. Sonos App eventually times out. What can i possibly do to set this up again?
Why so difficult to get speakers operational through a pc? I bought 2 play:1 speakers weeks ago, they are still not working. Software completely non-functional, can't find very powerful and operational wifi from pc. Have spoken with 'support' line multiple times. Applied factory reset, still nothing. Now must have them remote access pc TO USE SPEAKERS! Really feel they should not sell or advertise these devices as 'speakers', they are rather dedicated devices which operate ONLY through their ridiculous software and are absurdly and unnecessarily difficult to get to work. Speakers should be plug and play, not plug in,pull hair out in frustration, then collect dust for weeks. Buyer Beware!
I’ve got a new Synology NAS and trying to connect Sonos to the music folder on it. I’ve enabled SMBv1 and tried everything else that I’ve read in the Sonos community and Synology knowledge base. (I used a WD NAS for years with Sonos, BTW)I’m using a Mac and the path to the music folder is://NASsynology/Volume 1/for sonos(I’ve tried creating a separate folder just called “sonos” thinking maybe it doesn’t like the space in the name; also tried removing the “Volume 1” from the path and/or taking the space out and just calling it “volume1” which is how the name appears sometimes in Synology; also tried the IP address in place of the “NASsynology”...all with no luck) I’m getting an access denied error (telling me to check the ID/password) when using the Synology user-ID/password, as well as when I just skip the ID/password step and just leave it blank. Thanks for any help!
I have just bought a Roam (not realising initially it required S2). I have an S1 system with a mixture of S1 and S2 compatible products. I want to leave that as it is and set up a separate S2 system with just the Roam. Is there a simple way of doing this?
I'm using my play bar with lg smart tv and Harmony Remote. It works ok but i wanted to switch to original remote from LG = Magic Remote. Playbar won't recognize this remote if i klick on volume up button as requested. As far i can remember, first time i bought play bar it worked very well with lg magic remote. The strange thing is that if i push power off button on magic remote play bar recognize this. Has someone have some solution? Thanks
Hi there, so back in 2005, I bought 5 Sonos ZP100 zone players and a CR100 controller for the house I had at that time. I enjoyed them for years, fantastic equipment, but when we moved to a new house they went into storage and sat unused for a long while and were not updated. I just moved into a new house and would like to get them up and running on the new wireless and home theater systems with my existing receivers and external speakers and subs. I downloaded the Sonos Controller App and tried to add the ZP100's but although the Controller can see they exist, and said they were added to the system as "Unknown", I couldn't update the software (Error 11, seriously out of date, which I understand.) The Controller App is telling me I need to add a Player to the system to be able to play music. There is no way to add them to the system as ZP100's, as the drop-down only includes the current Sonos products, so I added the ZP-100's as CONNECT:AMP's because that seemed like the closest t
I have done everything as per instructions and nothing is working. The UK helpline is closed until Monday. Can someone please help ? Is there an equivalent of a home visit repair service ? I cannot put in to polite words how angry I am after spending so much money on 5 speakers.
Hi,I recently had a friend visit who owned an iPhone so I took advantage and set up my kitchen area to tune via trueplay.I have two sonos ones and two fives.Depending on the song being played I can clearly hear the sonos ones struggling with bass and making a popping or a doubling of each bass beat.Having read on forums hear previously if I turn trueplay off the problem does goes away. However I much prefer the trueplay sound on ....off I find the ones sound closed but with trueplay on it allows them to open up to become crisper and more detailed.I guess I am posting here to try to understand if this issue is known by sonos engineers and if it will be addressed with a possible software update? If not should the trueplay feature within the app come with a warning for sonos ones. It is a very noticeable misrepresentation of the music being played for certain songs & to be honest I would have to turn it off if I had friends over for the evening and we were enjoying the music.....the em
I just purchased two Play:1 speakers and have them set up in my living room. I downloaded the SONOS desktop app for Mac and used it to add my iTunes library, but after 15-20 minutes, I got an error message saying "There is not enough room to update your music library. Please remove unused queues or saved playlists and try again." There are no playlists loaded and I haven't even begun playing anything through the speakers so there are no queues, either. I haven't added any other music services - my only intention for the speakers right now is to stream music from my iTunes library (all locally stored on an external hard drive; not NAS). I checked the library and it seems that the app did load most music from my iTunes library, but only made it as far as "W" before stopping. Trying to update the SONOS library again doesn't seem to do anything. Is there a limit on songs/capacity that SONOS doesn't publicize? That would be very disappointing. :( [img]231132cb-1112-421f-8ac9-
How to set up NAS drive with Sonos? I have a Sonos Playbar and a Play 5 and want to set up a NAS drive to serve up the music, instead of coming off the iMac, which is how it is been done at the moment. Just bought a Synology DS115j 2TB NAS drive. Question: what is the best server software to install on it i.e. Twonky, Minimserver etc? What is the procedure/instructions for installing said software and how do I set it up as a NAS drive to use with Sonos. Any pointers or advice will be much appriciated.
Hi, we have a CONNECT:AMP connected to our network/gateway via gigabit and also sitting next to an B/G/N/AC AP. Have some PLAY speakers in same room and a SUB. It's working. All of them say WM:0 (ie Boost setup), and have an IP given by my main DHCP server (a router). In this room I can only see the AP's radio on a wireless channel analyser., I was expecting to see a channel 6 SonosNet - or have I got this totally wrong? How is this BOOST mode? - What exactly is happening here? Also if it's different, what is SonosNet exactly (tech facts only please)? I'm only asking because I want to understand this as have more SONOS rooms to setup/fix as it seems CONNECT:AMPS have crashed the entire network before when being plugged into ethernet and stuff like that, causing us to think things are faulty etc. I did read just now the crashing could be due to STP not being supported on the network and mesh & ethernet on the SONOS being used simultaneously hence I want to understand more. If any
