Connecting Player1 to Xfinity city hotspot

Hey all,
I have chosen not to pay for my own internet + router because the xfinity city-wide hotspot (with my parents login) is free and works great on my phone, iPad, laptop, and amazon fire stick. However, I am having trouble connecting the Player 1 speakers to it through the app on my phone. After trying about a dozen times, I have finally given in to the unexpected error message. Anyone have any tips?

Thank you so much!

You can't connect Sonos to any WiFi which requires a login.
See https://support.sonos.com/s/article/126

Also, Sonos requires local communications between the controller app and the speakers. A public hotspot wouldn't permit this.

Your best option would be to get a small travel router. Connect it to the hotspot using the appropriate login. Then connect your phone and Sonos units to the private network that the router will create.
