Dear friends! Need advice to fix issue with Arc and Samsung Frame. Arc and TV connected via optical adapter. In TV Menu - Sonos like Home Theater system with IR control. When we turn volume up slowly by little increment, everything is ok. But when we try to turn volume up faster (by holding vol up button) Arc turns volume to max and do not respond on any controls during some seconds.

Hi @rahmanoff,

Thanks for reaching out, and providing the useful video displaying the issue.

We’re aware of this behaviour taking place with some Samsung Frame TVs and we are working with Samsung on the issue but we have no ETA to share. For now, the only workaround would be to use the Sonos app to more reliably control the volume until this issue is resolved.

In order to assist the investigation, would you please provide the following information about your TV?

  • Exact make and model of your TV
  • Current firmware version installed

Having this information will help us investigate this issue further with Samsung.

Dear James,

I do not understand how optical connection can do volume changing that way?
Wу have problems with HDMI ARC connection and try to switch for more reliable - optical, but it is works in “magic” way.
In app same story - try to turn volume down, but it goes high and high unit full volume.

It doesn’t have anything to do with the optical connection specifically. We believe the issue is with the remote control sending repeated “volume up” commands via IR to the Arc. When Arc is connected via optical, it can’t receive volume commands from the TV via CEC, so it relies on the IR signals coming from the remote control.

We’re not sure why this is occurring, and this is what we’re investigating with Samsung. Please provide the information requested in my previous post so that it may assist in our investigations.

Hi!
Have idea to change IR settings in TV to differrent brand (maybe Sony or other) and try to learn Sonos.
What do you think?

In theory it can work.
