Alphabetical Sorting of Songs in Sonos Playlists

Sonos does not currently have, as a regular operating feature, the ability to sort songs in a Playlist alphabetically and then return to the original sort order. In my opinion, this would be extremely valuable for the following reason: if one likes a particular type of music, e.g., 50's Doo Wop, and creates a playlist with multiple albums that are collections of Doo Wop songs, there is a problem - numerous duplication of songs. If one could sort the collected songs alphabetically, it would be a simple matter to go through and weed out all the duplicate songs. The same problem of duplication exists if one is creating a Playlist for a particular artist which includes both studio albums (which are ordinarily not duplicative) and collections for that artist drawn from various studio albums or live performance albums. With alphabetical sorting one could easily eliminate the duplication of songs.

I have contacted Sonos requesting that this feature be made available. If you agree that this would be worthwhile, please contact Sonos' Technical Support department and let them know that you would also support having such a feature available as a regular part of the Sonos operating system.
Alphabetical order in the Playlists has to happen...this is a no-brainer! Sonos, this is extremely annoying. Please resolve ASAP. Alphabetical Playlists would be soo simple and yet provide a ton of value!
The lack of sorting the queue drove us nuts during Christmas. Wife kept asking "why does the "darn" sound system keep repeating songs?" Why is this still an issue? I combine playlists from Amazon Prime to play throughout the day, usually 100-200 songs, and always fight the duplicate entry issue. Sorting by name, at least, would be a huge help. Writing a sorting routine isn't difficult. Please make this a priority.
PLEASE ADD ALPHA-SORTING PLAYLISTS capability!!

An unsorted playlist that is more than a few entries long is very difficult to work with. Id also want to see the alpha index on the right side so you can jump to a specific letter.

This feature/behavior is present on all the other views - "Songs", "Artists", "Albums", etc., under both "Music Library" and "On This iPhone".

Both sources suffer from the same shortcoming with respect to PLAYLISTS only.

Please apply the behavior of "Songs", "Artists" etc. to the "Playlist" category as well.
also....based on another thread I tried copying my source playlist to a Sonos playlist but discovered that a Sonos playlist also lacks alpha-sort and indexing capability.
Agreed! We need a way to sort our songs within our playlists. Not only that, but there should be a way we can click on a song and see which playlists they're already in. A pop-up notice would help if the file is already linked to a playlist we're trying to drop it into.
This thread is shocking to me. I came on to find out how to sort, because when I search a particular artist's album, it comes up in a completely random order. I figured I just didn't know how to do it. It doesn't exist?!? I just spent a few thousand on Sonos equipment, and their answer to our question is "maybe later, but for now, your music will come up in a random order. You'll have to hunt and peck." A company that pulls in a BILLION dollars a year can't figure this out? :?
Both my disc and track tags in my local library are set as 01, 02, 03 etc. That works fine !

All albums appear to be listed in the Sonos App in track order.

See screenshots attached from iPad controller App.
Sorting of tracks in a playlist is an absolute essential feature and is included in every other music player I've used. I can't understand why Sonos is ignoring such a simple feature to implement. Hope someone from Sonos is taking note and actioning this.

Referring to to all playlist types. But, specifically, as I am a Deezer subscriber, I'd like Sonos functionality to be able to sort my Deezer Favourites and playlists by Artist and by Album and by Title in the same way as I can do in the Deezer app.

The Sonos app has never sorted any list, and there are solid technical reasons it cannot sort music-service-supplied lists, such as Deezer playlists.

Replying to contralav and Ken_Griffiths last comments, the Sonos app must know the following attributes of each track of music for these attrributes to be displayed when playing a track - artist, track title and album title. It seems unbelievable that these attributes cannot be used to sort a music queue or playlist!

The "work around" suggested by Ken is exactly what I've ended up doing. The point many Sonos users are making is that the ability to sort a music queue or playlist should be available in the Sonos app and Sonos users do not understand why this ability is absent.

In this case sorting isn't the problem: the problem is playback after sorting. Players don't get the actual list (they dont have the memory for that), they get the pointer to the playlist which they iterate through. So you could add the items from the playlist to the Queue (assuming the playlist allows it) then sort the Queue, but a sorted playlist would have to be re-saved (to the music service) before playback for the OP scenario to work.

sort the Queue
Please elaborate. How can a Sonos Queue be sorted?

I was speaking hypothetically: it is technically feasible. Unlike sorting playlists. In fact I think I'll add that to my app when I have a moment...
On my desktop Sonos controller, there is no functionality to enable the editing of a queue. On my Android Sonos controller, a queue can be edited but only "manually" by selecting one track at a time and sliding the track up and down the queue to the position in the queue you wish to place it. This is is difficult and time consuming to do if the queue has several hundreds of music tracks! This is why Sonos users want the app to do this sorting.

I repeat what I said before, the Sonos app must know the following attributes of each track of music for these attrributes to be displayed when playing a track - artist, track title and album title. It seems unbelievable that these attributes cannot be used to sort a music queue.
Correction to my previous post. My Windows Sonos desktop controller does allow the sorting of queued tracks by selecting one or more tracks and then dragging and dropping them anywhere in the queue.

That isn't actually sorting, that is re-ordering. Sorting is harder, from a coding perspective, especially on huge queues (eg the 35,000 item one in another thread).
