Google and Sonos confirm Google Home support this year at CES. But they didn't reveal a date.

I just read a similar article on Android Central. It seems like old news to me but it's getting new coverage because Google said something about it at CES.
Looks like there is no google cast integration.

I wouldn't take a beta/demo feature demonstration as the last word.

From the article:
There is also the “works with Sonos” side, which lets Sonos speakers serve as music endpoints that can be controlled by other Google speakers. In other words, if you have a Google Home and an older Sonos speaker (or a Sonos speaker set to Alexa), you can use your Google Home to start music on the Sonos.

So, ask Google Home Hub to cast something to a Sonos speaker. Perfect.
I wouldn't take a beta/demo feature demonstration as the last word.

Thats true, i'm quite sure that they would have told the verge otherwise, if they had plans to integrate google cast in the near future (what ever thats means for this company).
On the contrary....if they're still trying to make sure the feature works, and weren't sure one way or the other, they wouldn't speak a word of it.

This is bad news since I got a Sonos One to go together with my Chromecast speakers and Google Home Mini's...

I hope it can be added in an update...
I've got my sonos working with my home hub with a chromecast

Has anyone tried Google Home integration through the beta program yet? I imagine you sign an NDA but I'm holding up hope that someone is willing to share info.
If there was such a thing, then yes, I’d be willing to bet there would be an NDA, and that the great majority of people would be loathe to break it, as there might be not only harsh penalties (?) but serious impact for any potential inclusion in future beta tests. Not to mention it’s unlikely that a Sonos operated forum would allow a comment about what might be going on to stand. I’d think at the very least, you might be better off asking that question pretty much anywhere else but here.
Wondering if there is any rough date update? Summer time, Christmas time? Honestly, this is probably the single biggest item holding me from switching to google assistant in my house from Alexa.

No official word.
One can assume the initial delay was due to issues in doing the implementation. If it were me, I'd not want to commit to a new date until I was ready to release. Which means all the way through beta, if there is one. I'm sure that the marketing and forum folks want to announce as soon as possible, but the engineers and management wont let them.

Ha! I've never seen an engineering team outrank the marketing and sales weenies. How many times have they announced vaporware at other companies? Spence must be getting a lot of flak from his sales guys right now, but is holding out until the entire Google Assistant is fully integrated, perhaps to the detriment of the company.

I'd have been perfectly happy with simply a Chromecast target, which could have been ready a year ago. Pretty much what they did with Airplay, why not do the same with Chromecast? The Google microphone devices are inexpensive, no need to integrate into Sonos... A Google Home Hub is the perfect adjunct to a Chromecast speaker. Ah well.
I've been on my fair share of development teams, only to be dismayed by what marketing says about the product, and when. :)

One that still sticks with me is "per-pixel leatherization" Still no idea what that was supposed to mean.
