Tidal Announces New Price Changes: MQA Now Comes at a Premium Price

https://www.ecoustics.com/news/tidal-mqa-price-change-2021/

A 33% premium over 16/44 lossless, for what many in the industry argue is actually a degradation in quality? I’d bet many subscribers would simply opt for the regular lossless tier. Could MQA now wither on the vine?

And the rumour is… Apple Music will be launching 16/44 in the coming weeks without any change to the subscription price. Tidal - sigh,  if higher than CD quality is your thing Qobuz would probably a better bet.

Edit

Spotify 16/44 is also due at some point this year as confirmed by Spotify, much better music discovery than Tidal and pretty much everyone who creates playlists are Spotify based.

Indeed. And lossless 24/96, if that’s one’s thing, requires less bandwidth than streaming FHD video.
