Sound Quality App vs Airplay2

Is there a difference in sound quality including EQ settings when using Sonos App vs Airplay 2?

To me on my outdoor speakers playing through Sonos AMP I think that Airplay 2 does not use the EQ settings and does not sound quite as clear as Sonos App. I get some sounds that I don’t like using Airplay 2 that are either not there or not audible using Sonos App. I also have the Treble set down because my speakers are a little bright for my taste and I notice a difference between the two streaming methods.

Is this true or just in my imagination?
