Are there near-term plans to let me play SONOS radio on my phone, so that I can connect it to a Bluetooth speaker? I love SONOS radio and subscribe to the upgraded service. But I travel 2+ weeks a month and can’t play SONOS radio on the road.
I wouldn’t expect so. The Sonos software on your device is not a player, but merely a remote control for the software running on the Sonos speakers. It would require an entire rewrite of all Sonos software to do so, and Sonos already sells the Sonos Roam and Move, which are ideal for travel.
I happen to carry a travel router and a Sonos One when I travel, which also covers this situation.
Unfortunately, Sonos doesn’t lay out a software or hardware roadmap to the public, likely so as not to share their plans with competitors. We in the community wouldn’t know if such a game changing alteration was being worked on, or planned for the future.
